Well, I don't think you can prove it incontrovertibly. There's a huge role played by faith, and God made it that way on purpose.

One thing I'd look into is the amazing complexity and perfect balance of everything in the universe. The chances of life just happening and the chances of all the celstial bodies aligning just perfectly to establish the patterns of movement they currently have are very slim without being actually planned out by a creator.

Also, our science says our universe had a beginning, and that you can't get something from nothing, so there must have been something before the universe.

The proof is there for discerning persons, and not there for those that refuse to see.

ROMANS 1: 20 For his invisible [qualities] are clearly seen from the world’s creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship, so that they are inexcusable; 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God nor did they thank him, but they became empty-headed in their reasonings and their unintelligent heart became darkened. 22 Although asserting they were wise, they became foolish 23 and turned the glory of the incorruptible God into something like the image of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed creatures and creeping things.

Does God Exist?
Some Scientists Answer

PHYSICS professor Ulrich J. Becker, of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, stated when commenting on the existence of God: "How can I exist without a creator? I am not aware of any compelling answer ever given."

Did this contradict his scientific views? The professor's thought-provoking answer was, "If you discovered how one wheel in the 'clock' turns—you may speculate how the rest move, but you are not entitled to call this scientific and better leave alone the question of who wound up the spring."

Contrary to the opinion of some, many respected men of science do not rule out the idea of there being a God—a Great Mastermind behind the creation of the universe and man.

Consider two more examples on this point. When mathematics professor John E. Fornaess, of Princeton University, was asked for his thoughts on the existence of God, he replied: "I believe that there is a God and that God brings structure to the universe on all levels from elementary particles to living beings to superclusters of galaxies."

Physics professor Henry Margenau, of Yale University, said that he was convinced that the laws of nature were created by God, adding: "God created the universe out of nothing in an act which also brought time into existence." He then noted that in the book The Mystery of Life's Origin, three scientists explain that a Creator is a plausible explanation for life's origin. Supporting this view, astronomer Fred Hoyle has stated that believing the first cell originated by chance is like believing that a tornado ripping through a junkyard full of dismembered and in disarray Boeing 747 airplane parts could produce a 747.

To these answers can be added the words of the Bible writer Paul: "[God's] invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world's creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship."—Romans 1:20.

There's no way to prove God exists, just like we can't prove there isn't a God either.
I'm atheist, however, I am willing to help with your paper.
Use these sites to help you:
http://www.everystudent.com/features/isthere.html
http://www.doesgodexist.org/Phamplets/Mansproof.html
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6688917/
I only skimmed through these sites, but they seemed to be decent. Good luck with your essay. :)

EDIT:
I wouldn't use the logic the person below me used:

(1) Ask Atheists what caused the Big Bang.--Ask a theist what created God.
(2) Regardless of their answer, ask how they know this.--Same
(3) Continue process until the Atheist admits he doesn't know the answer to one of your questions.--Continue until the Theist admits (s)he doesn't have the answer.
(4) You win!--Same
(5) Therefore, God exists.--Therefor, God doesn't exist

(1) Millions and millions of people believe in God.--Millions of people also use to believe the world is flat, the universe revolved around the Earth, etc.
(2) They can't all be wrong, can they?--Of course they could be wrong. People have been wrong about many things.
(3) Therefore, God exists.--Therefore God doesn't exist.

Do you see what I am getting at?

I think the fact that all the BEST tasteing foods are the WORST ones for your health proves there's a God with an ironic sense of humor. It's interesting how nature worked it all out that way! Seems too ironic NOT to have an intelligence behind it.

God is not real because humans did not just appear out of no where they evolved starting from simple organisms. the planets god created by the big bang is one theory because through the Hubble Space Telescope some people saw it happen. and god did not magically appear out of no he had to come form somewhere. it would be breaking the principle of conservation of mass

no one has seen the wind only the effects of the wind yet everyone agrees the wind exists. GOD is like the wind. all one needs to do is look at the glories in the Heavens and on the Earth to see the Handiwork of GOD. yet GOD, HIMSELF remains invisible to the 5 senses of the mortals living on this plane of existence.
