im the youngest of 4 my sister is 10 yrs older & my 2 brothers are 8 &7 yrs older than me , my father died alomost 3 yrs ago my mom has severe damage in her back my sibilings told me to take her to a back specialist, which i did he ordered an mri & the results are not good back surgery is the only option & now my brothers are mad at me because im leaving this decesion up to my mom as far as what she wants to do, my 2 brothers tell me she will not be having the surgery, i dont understand, i did what they asked & now im on their s**t list. what do i do now? my mom is 71 not 7 i feel this is up to her, not her children.

It is up to her tell them to get lost and it not up to them you done the right thing by taking her whats wrong with them what they dont have time for there mother

you are right this is up to her, even if you were to say to the doctors and your family that you want her to have this done. in the end it is still up to her. she is 71 and may have a real hard time bouncing back from a surgery.here is what i think you should do. do some research on the pro. and cons of having this surgery at your mothers age. also talk to her doctor and see what he has to say. then present this all to your family.maybe once they see that she may not bounce back easily they will understand where your coming from.but again this is up to your mother not anyone else.

you are right its your mums descion. let her decide how she want to deal with her problem.
i hate it when family members are not willing to do the leg work to help, but always the first to criticise when you try to help.
at least you had the decency of taking your mother and supporting her when she needed it.

well, if your mother is capable of making her own descisions then it should be up to her, but if she is not able to decide then you need to decide whats best for her.
