Dont get me started on this subject, its absolutely stupid that kids cant sit on Santas knee, nowadays Santa has to have a CRB check (police check) even to give out presents to kids! The world has definately gone mad, especially when you are looking after your mates kids and they need their bums wiping after going to loo, I dont because the kids only have to mention it to someone outside the family and I would be up on a child abuse charge!! Is it still ok to bath your own children? Baa Baa white sheep? What happened to the back one?, oops, am I being racist? Country has gone mad, you are so true!! XXXX

Because, unfortunately, a few of those people (not all) who apply for those low paying jobs have only one motive...to get there jollies from little children. There are sick people in the world and I would NEVER let my child sit on a strangers lap and some people I know. My kids know that the Santa at the mall is just a guy dresses as Santa. Say that guy is a perv and he is seen elsewhere in his suit your child might think it is okay to talk to him or go with him. Scary. Although, some of this could be because the Santa wants to cover his own butt. What would most parents say if their child accused Santa of "touching" them inappropriately, even if it were an accident.

I agree with you, but people raise all sorts of crazy allegations these days, so Santas have to protect themselves. And then of course there's the one crazy Santa somewhere who gets a little too happy when kids sit down. Sigh.
Have you seen the movie Bad Santa starring Billy Bob Thornton? That might give you some idea.

I agree with all the other comments and yes, it is sad that things have come to this, but there is another angle and that is that nowadays, we should not allow the child to think that it is all right to sit on an older man's lap (unless a close relative - and even then not when alone). If they get the idea that this is OK, then they will be more susceptible to unwelcome advances. Best that they keep their distance. Sad, but that's how it has to be.

It has gone mad. I took my grandaughter to see santa last year and she had to sit on a stool in front of him. We can't take pictures or film any nativity plays in the school either. What I don't understand is, how do they get away with the adverts of babies bottoms being kissed and kids sitting on loos. Any sicko would get a kick out of those adverts so how can they be 'correct'?

Well, when I was a kid, you could sit on Santa's lap without fear of molestation.
But apparently, in recent years, Santa has become a raging pedophile kidie fiddler who poses a real threat to all our children.
Actually, come to think of it. In recent years, all men seem to have become rampant pedophiles.
Have you noticed that a man daren't even smile in a kindly way at a child without the fear or risk of being branded a pedophile, while at the same time, women are above suspicion?
The world now regards every man as a potential kiddie fiddler, but not women.
In answer to your question.
YES.
The world has gone mad, and I'm sick of it.

it's just stupid nowadays.
the kids can't do any of the things we used to do, but the sad reality is there are so many peodo's out there they are not safe doing anything.
my arguement on the santa issue is that surely he would have to be police checked to get the job working with kids, and the parents are going to be ther to keep an eye on things.
the whole country is terrified that something awful will happen to a child that we are taking the childhood away from them !!

Children can be abused in the most normal of situations by the people we least suspect.Peodophiles are very cunning and sophisticated and will seek out victims in a way that the general public would not be aware of.Child protection laws were bought about because of the increase in cases involving people with access to children. Can you imagine a peodophile getting a temporary job as Santa. This is not to say that all men who apply for the Santa role are peodophiles but figures show that one excists on every street in the uk so the laws are there to protect our children.A child could be touched and they nor you would even know about it.This is not political madness.Unfortunatley it is fact.Do not underestimate the lengths these offenders will go to ,to get what they want and what they do with photo's of unsuspecting children. At least this way your child is safe.

It is political correctness gone mad, it seems that we have to assume that everyone who comes into contact with children may be a pervert. My sister in law could not take pictures of her own children at a friends birthday party because it was in a public pool. The manager all but accused her of being Gary Glitter.
