Most people say IKEA, but make sure you carefully select what you're buying - some things are just junk. Great place for dishes, lamps, etc. Go to an outlet store for furniture though.

N one like Ikea. No one. They put the fun back in funky. Just go to the closest one and do the whole tour of the showroom. I had never had so much fun while shopping for furniture. Everything you see in the showroom (and I mean everything!) is for sale. And then you get to go home and put it all together! It's fun! And the instructions are easy to follow. And if you don't like how something turns out? JUST BRING IT BACK WITH THE RECEIPT! No questions asked!
decorations. photo frames, candle holders (the candles themselves too!), toys, lamps, posters, greeting cards, silverware.......oh, man! Go and have a blast!

depends on where you live. my husband and i bought our bed from ikea, but things can be a little expensive there, sometimes. visit garage sales, etc, and take cash to bargain with. go to arts and craft stores, and buy unfinished wood shelves, etc. then just paint them however you want, because they are unstained, unpainted, etc, so they will work great. get some fake plants (no watering), and put some scarves and pictures on the walls. overstock.com can have some funky things on sale, too.
have fun with it.

thrift stores, yard sales, flea markets, second hand consingment stores. I furnished my sons first house this way and had very little tied up in it even if I had to have some things recovered, it was still cheaper than buying new.

Pier One has interesting stuff. Also World Market. I've always found World Market to be reasonably priced.
