The Best Perm To Use, and which I also recommend is an Olive Oil perm. It does not contain as many chemicals as all the regualar perms which helps it from breakage but it has many nutrients in it to keep it strong and straight. The Olive Oil brand also has many other products that are good for your hair. You can get the perm that is for course hair. It usually runs around 6 - 8 dollars depending on where you purchase it but it all worth it and after putting the perm on for better results you should flat iron it. Hope I helped you!!!

Sally Beauty Supply carries a really good relaxer called Silk Elements. As long as you follow the instructions exactly, you will be fine. What happens when peoples hair falls out is that they did not follow the instructions. I worked at a Sally's for 2 years that was considered an "ethnic" store because of all the black hair care products we sold, and I learned alot about the different products. We always had amazing feedback about the Silk Elements line of products.

I agree this is a crucial time in her life as kids in middle school can be cruel little teasing bastards.
Are you able to flat iron your daughters hair?
I know you're on a budget too, can you get her some braids?
Whatever you do to work with your daughter's hair, please condition it often and take good care of it. The last thing she needs is for it to fall out due to relaxer damage and over-processing from chemicals.

Wash and put some strong setting lotion through her hair whilst it is still damp and then use jumbo rollers/Coke cans to set her hairwith
let her hair air dry completely before removing rollers and then brush hair into place , should make her course hair smoother and straight although it may have with a very slight hint of curl at the ends

DO NOT perm her hair yourself. Perming involves a lot of chemicals and you need a stylist to do it. Wait until you have enough money because you won't regret waiting to get a stylist that will treat your daughter's hair right. My mom permed my hair when i was a little kid at first by herself but it caused my longgg locks to fall out..when she started taking me to a stylist my hair grew back and now it's almost as long as it was. Your daughter will thank you!

i have been told if you buy setting lotion like you do for a perm and keep brushing it through straight til its time to wash it off it calms the hair down a lot, also when i have no money a very tiny amount of body lotion clams it down and stops it being all 'fluffy'
A perm would make the hair worse i reckon

I have really course hair and optimum no lye relaxer does wonders. im 16 and ive been using it since 12. just make sure u get super. if she can't always get her hair done, natural styles like kinky twsist or individuals can be an option. it starts at $160 but going 3 months without hair problems is worth it.

If you use Pantene Pro-V Relaxed and Natural shampoo and conditioner for women of color. Then she won't need a perm. It works perfect on my two daughters hair.
