I don't think that the fact that someone comes from another country will have much effect. America is still the melting pot, the problem is the bigger the pot the longer it takes to melt anything.

The problem I believe is that these immigrants are hanging on to their cultural identity too hard. I'm not saying it's not important to know where you come from, but by coming to America, you should be prepared to become American. To embrace at least to a greater degree the dominant culture of the country. Speaking English would win over a large quantity of so called racists.

No one cares what language you speak at home, or what you eat for dinner. If you are to work and live together, you do need to be able to speak together.

Absolutely. Racism is already on the rise. I lived my whole life w/o being racist but here lately I find myself thinking and feeling things I never thought I would. People are tired of being put on the back burner because their are illegals sucking up our tax dollars. There are hard working CITIZENS that are struggling everyday while illegals get free health care and so on. I can now say I am what you would probably call a racist because of what this gov't has done to the American Citizens.

And just what does amnesty for the illegals have to do with racism? I do know that a *huge* number of voters will be POed at their elected representatives.

Love Jay's answer^. People who truly are racist against them have reason to be. Look at what they did to our flag while they were stupidly demanding rights that they aren't entitled to. Look at the way that they behave, like street trash, giving America the middle finger....they disrespect our dead veterans, our country. They deserve the hatred that they have earned and why do people forget that illegals are just as racist, if not more so, than anyone?

It has nothing to do with racism, but everything to do with national security, not to mention fairness ... what about those who have been waiting in line for years, trying to do it legally? What about the American tax payers who see educatio, pensions etc. eroded because of demands of illegals?

Racism per se won't increase, since it's not a matter of race, but I can foresee an increase in violence ... people can only take so much before they react ...

There is a big difference between those in America and Americans. I have noticed that new comers in America are by and large more racist than those people who have been in America for many years. There is a great deal of racism in mexico.

I'm tired of people making illegal immigrants into a racial thing... there are millions of immigrants and citizens of different races in the US... there is some racism on all sides of races... illegal immigrants is not a racism issue.. it's the fact that they are here ILLEGALLY- I do not think that racism will increase.. I do think people will be mad at the government and I guarantee you the people in office will be voted out next election if they did it
