Yes.. it was listed on my insurance as surgery.

Yes it is. However there are different types of surgical procedures, some more risky than others. A biopsy of the skin is minor and holds very little risk. A biopsy of the lung however requires a hospital stay and can be life-threatening. But anytime you cut into the body it is called a surgical procedure.

Yes. I have had a few. They were considered minor surgical procedures as they were either done in the office or as an outpatient. Unless it is a needle biopsy. That is a little different.

It is normally considered a form of surgery, though this can vary from patient to patient, biopsy to biopsy. There are out patient biopsies and inpatient biopsies, depending on if they are invasive or not.

Most topical biopsies are out-patient procedures and are considered minor surgery at most.
