If you are speaking of the biblical God, it is because his "prescriptions" could be interpreted any number of ways. The Bible was written 2006 years ago when the medical field was not nearly as advanced. Doctors go through years and years of schooling to learn how best to take care of the body and mind in modern times. Most of their theories are tested and proven. I imagine any true God would want you to use rational reasoning to heal and save yourself.

What guarantee do you have that your doctor knows what he is talking about when he prescribes medicine or performs surgical proceedures on you? We have none, but if we don't follow their commands they can deny us service too, as does God. Unlike doctors God has promised that he will never forsake us if we trust him, so each individual has to decide for themselves how much trust they should rely on. By the way, Doctors have guidlines and God doesn't, so we trust God on a totally different level.

I think we pray, but we don't really believe God will answer our prayers, so we seek help from doctors and stuff in addition to asking God for help. I know I'm guilty of doing that. Although I also think that God works through doctors, so I'm not saying it's wrong to go to doctors.

Not everybody follows doctor's advice. How many people in America who are obese have doctors who tell them they need to exercise and watch their caloric intake? I would bet most of them do.

As far as what god tells you to do, that is going to be different depending on who is speaking for god. If you don't like what god is saying, just ask another preson who believes in god. Eventually, you will find an answer you like.

We can see the doctor right in front of our eyes. It's easier to kind of shrug off God since He's not visible to our eyes. But we turn to God in terrible fear when we have something serious. It's not right but be do tend to follow our human nature. The Bible says we are prone to wander, that's why we are compared to sheep that need a Sheperd.

I took my blood pressure meds. Always asking God if it was safe before I ate it. Well after Pastor preached on telling the dead bones to raise up in your life, I decided to tell my blood pressure to submit to God.

The medicine seemed to help, but I still had blood pressure irregularities.

Shortly after I commanded my blood pressure (my dead bones) to submit to God, God wouldn't give me the go ahead with the medication. He commanded me not to take it. I couldn't disobey God, so haven't taken it for about a year now. Whenever I sense something in my heart or veins, I look toward / pay attention to God. And we discuss something.

So, I have to obey God and not take the medication. But God allowed me to take it for a long time, until I told my blood pressure to submit to God.

I think it doesn't matter if you take a doctors prescription (it is a bandaid) unless God tells you not to. Sometimes God will tell you to take it.

But God will get to the root of the sickness. As with me, God took me to the root of anxiety attacks. I had to go through a very difficult time where root wounds were touched on by people I cared about. I went through shakes and chills and God told my I had a breakthrough. The root of anxiety attacks were root wounds. It is a process, but God heals me every day. Roots wounds are from rebelious people who have torn me when I told them a testimony of what God has done. Also when others criticized the gifts the Holy Spirit gave me. Or if I told others how God delivered me from tabacco, and got yelled at & cut off...

I Guess yahoo questions & answers has been a therapy for me.

Also, God sent us His Word and healed us of all our diseases. So claiming Gods healing promises out loud heals. Faith comes by hearing and hearing a word about God / Christ. Thy faith has made you whole.

The problem is indwelling sin, people will always mess up. It happens, just pray and read and try harder. We are dead to sin, but alive in Christ, but that don't mean that we are not going to sin. Sometimes I'm not representing Christ like I should when I should, and that's a sin. I can only keep on and do better next time. Stay up and pray for God to help you.
