I noticed you didn’t mention anything about your skin tone nor your eye color

If you have fair/light skin consider the following:
Hydrience: 38 Cocoa Harbor
Hydrience: 40 Tawny Breeze

If you have Golden Olive or Dark skin consider the following:
Hydrience: 16 Starfish

But if you want to step it up a notch and get multi-tonal hair which includes color and coordinating highlights.

If you have fair/light skin consider the following:
6.0 Cool Almond Rocca Light Brown (Rich, Nutty, Delicious)
6.1 Cool French…clair Light Ash Brown (Soft, Chic, Sophisticated)
6.2 Cool Light Iridescent Brown (Cool, Calm, Collected)

If you have Golden Olive or Dark skin consider the following:
6.3 Warm Light Golden Brown (Bright, Buttery, Burnished)

But you must consider the following. You will get consistently better results leaving hair coloring to professional colorist. A good hair stylist will be able to pick out the hair colors that work best with your skin tones. Application can be tricky also. Your hair porosity will determine how long colors should be left on. Even touching up roots can be tricky. Almost all hair will benefit by using a clarifying shampoo before coloring.

I realize some of you just don't have the time or money to spend at a hair style salon and will decide to hair color at home. If you do decide to color your at home by yourself with a store bought hair product , remember that the actual hair shade you will achieve will vary from the picture on the box. I would recommend following the directions exactly, and taking the time to do a test to determine if you will get the result you expect before any damage is done. Don't worry what your parents saying about your hair turning green. Because on most cases if the pigment in your hair has too much warmth, or coolness there is a chance of having your hair turn orange/copper, or pink. Which only happens when a person wants to go 4-6 shades difference with an at home coloring product. Don't worry you only wanted to go from dark blonde to light brown which is only 1-2 shades. Which means your not at risk. Go to www.clairol.com and www.couleurexperte.com for more info or if you want to see the recommended shades for yourself. I hope this helps!

Your hair will only turn green if you choose an 'ash' color, like ash brown. Choose a brown shade a little lighter than the end result you want, because blonde hair will soak up all the color and will actually turn darker than what you intended. I recommend a semi-permanent shade - it won't wash out completely. It will probably turn a bit darker than what you want, but after 1 or 2 washes you will have a nice color. My hair was light blond until a few weeks ago, then I used a semi-permanent color to take it back to brown, and it looks great. If you want to use a permanent color just choose a lighter brown than what you want - no ashy tones.

I have done this once. I dyed my hair blond from brown and hated it. I waited a couple of weeks to insure that my hair didn't fall out from over processing. Then I went to the store and bought the closest thing to my natural color. It looked good. When you do this for yourself just try to make sure that you get every strand of hair colored. If you don't you'll end up with big blond blotches all over.

Your hair is no longer virgin hair so get a color to coat the hair strands and your hair will have to grow out to its natural color as anytime you change your color it is now more prone to look differently than the color you thought it was'
