No , the probable cause of death in crucifixion is not tetanus, it is caused by the fact that breathing becomes impossible after a while when hanging by the arms spread like that. It is a painfull and slow death. Slow suffocation. Acording to the Middle Eastern legends you are refering to, it seems that a soldier also hit the body with his lance. Since no forensic report was found, it is difficult to know if the victim was already dead when this occured.

I'm not sure the connection here but infection is not what killed Jesus. Jesus died because he released His spirit to God our Father. The Romans put the spear through Jesus' side and into the sack around His heart after He had died. And then 3 days later when He had life in his body again He had the holes in His hands and feet and Thomas was able to put his actualy hand in the spear hole in Jesus' side. He wanted to touch the wounds to be sure that was actually Jesus and that He had indeed been resurrected.

No... I'm guessing the spear they stabbed him with was sanitized beforehand. Like how they do with the needles during lethal injections.
