Huntsville isn't *that* isolated. If you wanna be 'co-religionist' you gotta go Baptist. If you want to just schmooze with religious people you could go to the Unitarian Universalist Church over on Governor's drive.
You're better off getting a bass boat and learn to like football and bass fishing (water skiing). There's plenty of other stuff to talk about.
Oh yeah...it just dawned on me that you may want to fake the religion part til you know whether the interlocutor has a cute daughter he's trying to palm off on you. Keep your wits about you. Go...okay, you can say baptist because there'll always be a different baptist church from the one the other person goes to. And you don't want to pick a church that'll actually turn them off from introducing their daughter. So, study up on baptist-ism enough to talk for exactly 30 seconds (you don't have to go but it wouldn't hurt to know when the singles groups meet at at least one church - and just fyi, those things can be pretty good meet markets). Any more than 30 seconds and you're actually talking religion which is actually pretty boring.

Wow! l. a. to Huntsville. probable lifestyle marvel for you. in case you have lived obtainable your total existence, i don't be attentive to for specific which you may fairly like it there. while you're uninterested with a lot of rat race existence type and pricey value of residing the place you're then you certainly could welcome the replace. so a techniques as people no longer liking you on account which you're from someplace else, i does no longer subject myself. The South has seen one among these super infiltration of the yankees over the final numerous years who could be conscious one extra guy from California. a minimum of the CA people are fantastically laid back. i've got lived and traveled during the south and characteristic lived approximately 2 hours north of Huntsville in a small city in TN for variety of 10 years. For a small southern city, Huntsville is somewhat ingenious. i'm specific NASA and different technologies variety industries have lots to do with that. you may look at some demographics on the section, fantastically in case you be stricken by any racial prejudices. Nashville, Atlanta, and Birmingham are all a somewhat ordinary holiday in case you like a dose of extra advantageous city existence.

Smug is right. There are plenty of educated Alabamians who accept the religious choices of others.
Further, if you want people to treat you in an honest, open manner, you need to be open and honest yourself. I've learned one thing about Southerners--they are a lot sharper than you seem to believe.
I know you graduated from MIT but you apparently aren't very wise when it comes do your dealings with people. Try assuming intelligence and understanding on their part, and maybe they'll treat you that way.

I think I'd tell the truth and see if they really wanted to explore the issue. Perhaps I'd get bored with that, but I'm sure you are in a very tough spot. Don't know how you're going to get a mate though.

Unitarian Universalist. That way, they'll all flee in terror and leave you alone;)

Actually, UUs will accept people who don't take the Bible as the sole text for determining right and wrong, much less scientific fact. Its more like a social group for agnostics, liberal Christians, pagans and secular humanists like you.

Why cant you stand up for your convictions?
A relationship structured on lies will reflect its outcome anyway. I am sure human resources could care less. YOu are both there for money.
