Lake Shore Drive (LSD), runs along the lakefront from 57th Street north to Hollywood Ave. Further north than that Sheridan Road is adjacent to the lake to the city limits (near Loyola University), and then again through Evanston all the way up through Winnetka.

highway 32 (Sheridan Rd. / Lakeshore Dr.) runs each of ways from Milwaukee to Chicago and follows stunning on the edge of the lake. possibly no longer the main scenic in some areas, yet you will locate some super spots alongside the way. Plus that's extremely ordinary to persist with - reliable success!! ** I advise combating off in the smaller suburbs north of Chicago, there are some fairly super eating places and shops**

Are you thinking of Lakeshore Drive? Water on one side, and shopping on the other?

The song of the same name was by Steve Goodman.
