Yes it does. And after the tongue piercings you have to be on liquid diet for a while as per instructed and it takes time to heal.

i just got my tounge pierced 3 days ago
professionally though dont ever have someone else do it.
anyways they made me like swoosh around listerine for a good 1 min which made it sort of numb.
he checked for veins and stuck the needle through then the bar it didnt hurt usually when they put the ball on that the part that hurts but it didnt bc he said i have a small tounge
its really swollen ive been takin advil and its helping
just brush your teeth and use mouthwash
its hard to eat and talk for a couple days,
some white stuff may come up from your tounge but thats normal.
the healing process is about 1 month

you'll feel the needle. I think biting your tongue hurts more then actually getting it pierced. it does hurt some what after though. ecpecially when you're trying to learn how to chew with this new tongue piercing, but if you suck on plenty of ice, and take some motrin you'll be fine. and In two weeks time the pain and swelling will go away, and your speech should go back to normal. It hurt me less and its easier to take care of than my cartilage piercings....remember go to a qualified piercer, though. have fun :]

Alot of people will tell you they didnt feel a thing, but honestly, mine was horrible. I kept wanting to pull my tongue back, so he ended up having to do it twice.
The healing is the worst part, though. Not only is you tongue HUGE and swollen, it is very painful to move and eating is very uncomfortable. You have to get used to eating with the barbell in your mouth, for a few weeks it feels wierd to put food on your tongue. I wouldnt go through it again, but i definetly dont regret it. Thanks to my tongue ring I no longer have to chew on gum or my nails like i used to, it is also easy to conceal if you need to, just put a clear ball on the end. Good luck:)

All piercings hurt to an extent, but overall, the pain is done and over with quickly. Most of the pain comes from following days when the area is swollen and sore.

I had my tounge pierced and it didn't hurt too bad when the needle went thru, just kind of a pinching feeling... the worst part was the clamp at end of my tounge... The real pain comes afterwards, when it's healing. It's very sore and tender and you can't eat any real food for a few days.

my tongue piercing did NOT hurt AT ALL. it all depends on who you go to. go to a respectable, qualified piercer and you should be ok. it swelled up a lot the next day and was a little sore, but it wasn't too bad. the worse part is not being able to eat how you would like. i had to eat soup, milkshakes, and smoothies for a week. now (its been about 9 days) i can eat pretty much whatever i want, but i have to be careful.
-good luck and enjoy!

I have my tongue done and they froze and it honestly never hurt one bit! My friend had hers done before me and she told me that and I never believed her until I got it done. People find it hard to believe but all you feel is the pressure of the needle going through. Well some people might find it different another one of my friends said it hurt but majority of people I know with it done agreed with me! Just ask to get it frozen if they don't, the lady who done mine said it was the least sore piercing to get done and I know her and she's honest!

Initially yes they hurt like hell! But the healing process isn't bad. Just eat lots of ice cream to keep the swelling to a minimum for a few days and you're all good.
Good luck!
