If one believes in such philosophical things such as having a 'self' seperate from one's body/mind, does that mean that it can be 'lost'? Or do people believe more than the 'self' is something produced by the brain, and therefore is not something that can be 'lost'? It's an interesting question I'm not sure I have enough scientific/philosophic knowledge to answer.

Depends on what you might define as yourself.

I've heard of people losing their conscience early on in life or even when they were old due to experiences they had in life. They tend to become sociopaths. Though that can also happen through simple brain dysfunction.

If you chop a brain in half correctly, you end up with two personalities pretty much. Which is the self? Or are we all at least 2 consciences intertwined?

Soul is something some believe in and others don't. I don't "believe" in it as a fact but I'd like to because I feel there is a soul. However my feeling there is such a thing, doesn't make that thing a fact or any kind of reality. Like an invisible friend almost. That's why science is so valuable to the world. It's methods don't rely on what people feel, just what can be proven.

Some people think that they can go past some point of no returning to Christ. Some think they are bound to some covenant with satan. Then need to realize satan doesn't keep his part so voids the covenant. Jesus saves our souls from the tricks of the enemy.

People have a body soul & spirit. I believe the soul is associated with choices & mind. When people purposely rebel against God, they become spiritually dead / blinded. Jesus said we must be born again to see Gods Kingdom.

Spiritual rebirth happens with confessing Jesus Christ Lord and heart faith in resurrection. Person is whole again, restored in relationship with Father God, the Son & Holy Spirit. Person is forever redeemed by the blood. Cannot be lost & is forever saved.

The Soul is still deciding how to act and is washed in the word and working out its salvation daily. And when standing before Christ after this life, what remains is soul thoughts, actions, remaining after tried by the fire. Faith Hope & Love are everlasting & rewards. All lies, sin, etc. are fried and don't go to heaven.

A persons spirit will always be seen by God, and never truly lost. The gravity of the universe will hold all matter from getting lost in space. Two realities, but one is a mirror image.

Nothing can lose its self, because nothing can be detached from its self. Whether it is a conscious thing or an inanimate thing, if it is a discrete (DISCRETE is the operative word here) thing it cannot be detached from its self. What I just said is basically tantamount to a tautology, and therefore true by definition. So don't try to argue with me. Moreover, I'm a saint and I'm holy. So there.

Yourself IS your soul. The Soul has a duty to perform, it is obligated. The only way you can loose either is at the momment of Death where the fate of ur soul will be sealed to Victory, or condemmed to defeat. That Ultimate Defeat is to be wiped away from the memories of the Victors.

The Lord describes Himself as the Good Shepherd seeking the Lost sheep. We can become lost from doing what we know is the correct thing to do. Jesus will always seek us out and if we allow Him, take us back.

What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self? If anyone is ashamed of Jesus and His words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

Losing a separate sense of self is losing what never existed.

If we believe in a soul, then it cannot be lost. This is because the Soul is who we are, and they body is merely temporary. We can lose our bodies. We can lose our minds. We cannot, however, lose our souls, because that is who we are.

if you go to a nice fish restaurant and order filet of soul, you might lose it if you get up to go to the bathroom. but you meant soul, didn't you? you cannot lose that which has no form, takes up no space, and might not even exist in the first place.
