Why did so many religious people get so worked up by a piece of fiction? I'm a christian, and though i haven't read the book (just haven't gotten round to it yet), i've seen the film, and have to say i enjoyed it. So there may be some elements of truth in it, but all in all, all it is is an entertaining work of fiction. So, what was the problem?

I am a Christian and I also do not understand. When it was first coming out, I got so many emails from fellow Christians telling me why I should not go see it.I have strong faith and I enjoyed the book.I know I will like the movie cuz anything Tom Hanks does of late is usually superb.

Of course, fiction is fiction, but some people are actually dumb enough to think it's not fiction. They are impressed with Brown's make-believe "scholarship". The concern of many Christian communities is that these people will be lead away from truth by someone (or, well, a group of people) taking profit in their ignorance. And the irony is that, apparently, Brown and his business partners were not actually interested in that, but just in steering curiosity by attacking religion. But people want pretexts for excusing the growing cold of their faith.

I didn't go to the movie, although my friends wanted to, because
1) I thought I would be too angry at the film blaspheming against my Lord to enjoy the show; and
2) I thought I shouldn't add to the huge profits of this piece of filth not even six bucks.
In the end, my friends gave up the idea of seeing the movie and we went for a walk in the park.

Loads of people got worked up because the book and movie suggest that there was a physical relationship between Christ and Mary Magdalene. This idea doesn't go down very well with some parts of the Christians church who have been calling her a tart for centuries. To go further and suggest that Christ and Mary had children caused some Christian leaders to spit their dummies right out! I don't think it's blasphemy, more like free speech..... Just because something is written down in a religious book does not guarantee it's right, politics and sexist views have been around just as long as holy books have........

The problem is, that even if there are elements of truth, there are also elements of falsehood. If a person who has not studied the Bible or Christian history sees a movie like this and believes it to be true, they have formed an opinion while believing a lie.
This is exactly how Satan works in the world.

It may or may not have some truth. Also many people don't like a lot of knew idea. both the book and the movie blur the line between fiction and truth. I loved the book, have yet to see the movie*cries*.

the truth is, there are grudges in Christians.
Starting from Byzantium vs Roman Catholics
Then, Catholics vs Orthodox
Later, Catholics vs Protestants
Lutheranian & etc....
... and it still unstopable until now...

They are so many church to be follow, with differet kind of Bibles, different commandments... Arghh.. I'm tired on those things...
I didn't believed in Christians & Bible since the Church of England being established. Plus, the King of England do marry 6 wives... Owh my God...

Because they see it as blasphemy...........

they are saying that at the last supper Mary Magdalen was there which is Jesus's wife........I think they get worried about anything that will rock the boat, and I am sure the rumours have been around for centuries

BECAUSE people who know not the truth will believe a lie.
You are blessed if you know the word of God.
But many people do not.
On this site alone I have found many take IT AS THE GOSPEL.
