I've been with the church for a while now as a convert from the Pentecostal faith and I've never been happier. Now I wish to pursue a life preaching the faith as a religious Priest, but I don't know where to start. I don't know what semiary to look at and I've heard that the irony is that the cost for the knowledge to b ecome one is astronomical.
I live in poverty, and I think that as a Priest I would have a lot to give back to the community because I have no desires or wants monatarily other than to be able to afford my education. But I don't know how to begin to pay for this type of education. I need advice and guidance.

I'm dumbfounded by how idiotic most of these answers are. As for the 'little boys' thing it's easy to point fingers at the Catholic Churhc for molesting boys, but I guess most of us forget that there are numerous other religions and their practicioners that do the sam atrocities but Protestant America is afraid of realizing their pasters beat their wives or that polygamists are giving away preteen brides to older men or that there are murderous muslims.
I guess it's very easy to be "holier than thou" in America society since most of the people in that society are too stupid to reflect on themselves and their own morals. To associate the entire Catholic population is ridiculous, but at the same time I'm glad some of you made those points because it just allows me the benefit to know that you wouldn't of had an intelligent answer to my question anyways.

I've also noticed that I didn't make the question concise enough. Talking to a priest is indeed common sense, and thanks for all the people that didn't give an answer beyond that because you've wasted your time and mine, however thankfully they were short so I didn't have to spend too much time passing over them while rolling my eyes.
What I SHOULD have asked was are there any seminaries that CATHOLICS know of that might be of interest for me to look into.
And I don't understand why non catholics are answering because obviously your input is irrelevant, and I WILL remove you from the answer list via reporting you.

Go speak to your current priest. He will be your best resource and mentor for this part of your life.
Good luck! I'm not Catholic anymore, but I think it takes real guts to be willing to give up so much for others...and it sounds like you're one of the ones who really will.
Edit...
Nevermind, ignore my answer. You don't deserve to be a priest, if you're going to be so rude to those who actually gave you nice, friendly answers. We wasted your time by telling you to talk to a priest? Well, you wasted OUR time by not making your question more concise and by not thinking enough to do that on your own in the first place.
Priests are supposed to be forgiving, good people. I changed my mind on you. You are definitely not that.
Oh, and reporting non-Catholics for answering won't do anything. You didn't specify that you were against non or fomer Catholics answering, and you are ignoring the fact that some of us (myself included) were actually being supportive. Jerk.

Your parish priest is the first step. Or you could call the Diocesan Vocation Office of your diocese. If you are serious in becoming a Religious Priest like a Franciscan or a Jesuit, you could google Franciscans, Jesuits, Dominicans etc. on the Internet or ask the Vocation Office for advice. Also the Catholic Paper of your diocese has information about how to do this. God's Peace and blessings to you.

You can write to rome or your bishop he can help, yes going to a seminary costs but I think the church would be able to support you they did it for my cousin. First of are you ready to take a vow of celibacy? You can always become a deacon you can still preach and be married, or even a friar or a monk you don't have to go to the seminary for that. Go to your parish and the priest can help you with finding a seminary. God Bless sorry for not giving you much help but i'd advise you to speak to your priest.

yes start with your local parish and contact EWTN (eternal word network) started by Mother Angelica they should have the information on seminaries that you require.
As for Darwin, not sure why anyone would idolise him. Oh and just so he can be become a more intelligent academic I'll post these sites for Darwin's education

I suggest you start with your own parish priest. Talk with him about your desire to become a priest and why you want to become one. Your priest will be able to put you in contact with schools, seminaries, and Catholic organizations that may be able to provide financial assistance.

Because more and more Catholics have figured out what a pile of crap their religion is (they are ALL crap), they are having a hard time recruiting priests, so it should be easy to jump on this institutionalized con. Religion is the ultimate con, it is government protected, tax free and the product they sell doesn't have to be delivered until you reach a place that doesn't exist.

an education in theology is expensive, talk to your local seminary school and find out if there are any grants out there for you. Speak to your elders too.
