If you divide 969 by 12 you get just under 80 and a half... what happens twelve times in a year? The full moon. Maybe they were using THAT as a rule, instead of the equinox system that we use. Hope that helps you make sense of things.

There is no mention of Methuselah's dietary preferences in the Bible, nor is there any proof that he lived to be 969 years old.

they did not have vitamins in those days. people lived longer in those days. he was the oldest living person
