When a guy says he would love you if he was single what does it mean?
i was dating a guy for a while we both were very physically attracted to one another and things broke up as i was upset about my job etc a little needy at the time...he always stares at me when we are out and the other day i apoligised to him and he said i was one of the most lovely people he had met and that initially he was intimidated by my job ( i have quite a high powered job and earn good money) he also said he thought i was gorgeous back then and still does, i said i was leaving and he kept on grabbing me and said he would love me...if he was single..When i chatted about one of my ex boyfriends he got jealous and said 'what about us?'. He has only just started to date someone else..i have always been infatuated with him and vice versa..what should i do should i ask him for a drink as friends, i think he could of beena potential one..

He is telling you he is not available. Hear that part and ignore the rest. HE IS NOT AVAILABLE.

He's seeing someone else, let it go...his comment was cruel too, not only to you but toward his girlfriend...it's mean to tell you that could love you (when he's with someone else, and unavailable), and disrespectful to her...
What purpose would it serve for you to make attempts to see him, unless you were hoping to break them up? Would you want someone to do that to you? If he's REALLY into you, then he'll end it with the current girl himself and try with you again...if he sticks with her then he's either choosing to settle or he digs her enough that the potential to love you doesn't beat that...

Keep being friends with him, stay in touch. Call to chat, etc.
If it's meant to be, it will be. Sounds like he worries that you are out of his league, income wise.
