There isn't a main religion really but the national religion is generally considered to be Shinto. There is also quite a lot of Buddism in Japan.

Daoism - sometimes spelled Taoism. It's belief system is based on Zen - the 'achieving without effort' - sometimes quoted as 'the art of doing without doing'. It's very abstract and is considered more of a philosophy than a Religion. Hope that helps.

It ain't crisitianity, that's for sure. that is why their crime rate is so low. they have high literacy, and universal health care. They have a longer life expectency also. Why are cristians trying to convert THEM?? It should be the other way around.
