I have some on the stove for my boyfriend. Ive never fixed these before. He told me to add some vinegar to help cut down the smell but they are really, really stinky. this smell is going to make me sick! Serious answers only please! Im trying to do something nice for my sweetie pie but i cant take much more here! Help!

Babygirl, you GOTS to get a hotplate and cook that chit outside next time!! hahaha! Make sure to change the water after about an hour and boil them again, at LEAST one more time! Adding a bayleaf or two to the water also helps cut down the smell, as does a pinch or two of baking soda...also gives some flavor and tenderness, as well...My neighbor used to make these and his wife always made him do all outside on his barbeque stove! hahaha! Let this be a lesson to everyone reading! :)

I 've just read an article that says cilantro will cut the odor of chitterlings. According to the article, it's the chemical make-up of the cilantro that does the trick. Have not personally tried it yet, but the holidays are coming up and I will see if it's true. I know that chefs use cilantro leaves with the stems to clarify vegetable or beef broth/

FIRST OFF mmmmmmmmmmm! second that smell can't be vanquished just lessened. yeah vinegar does help
