IBM T42 laptop
type 2372
model F1G

I used a set of original IBM recovery CDs in attempt to restore my system to factory setting. A file was reported missing after I finish loading the 4th disc. It let me continue anyway, load all CDs and restarted system as instructed. But it would run for a bit and say "IBM Rescure and Recovery failed to recover your system", and would not let me back into Windows. The laptop keep booting up into the Rescure and Recovery environment dispite my effort of changing the boot priority.

Cant find a solution on IBM website and them people at IBM take too long to solve a problem.

I woulod really appreciate if anyone tell me what I should do to get my laptop back to normal.

Many thanks

Do it again - when you get to the file that's missing, take a note of the name and try to get a copy of the file from elewhere... then copy it on to the machine separately.... or if you know the file name, post it here and we may be able to assist you.

you should face the actual incontrovertible fact that the archives might want to nicely be lost for reliable. even if, there are a determination of archives fix classes available that would want to nicely be able to get your archives decrease back. i understand which have made use of StompSoft's get well lost archives contained in the previous to get image archives decrease back from deletion. the reason that i discussed this call is that if bypass out and purchase it you may want to run the utilising proper from the CD which minimizes the possibilities of an overwrite. Conversely, in case you bypass and procure a application you strengthen the possibilities that your archives will be overwritten with the aid of the receive.
