I have honestly never heard this before, and I'm always having things done with my hair!
They might be trying to rip you off & get you to pay for two hair cuts so be careful!

A Stylist will normally cut the bottom of your hair first and then the layers. But the hair should not be cut to one length first as you would lose a lot of length to make it that way. A good stylist should be able to cut the hair following the old layers therefore giving the same results. If your stylist is cutting your hair to one length first and then re-cutting the layers you should question this, as you are losing hair that doesn't need to be cut!

Are you sure they cut all your hair into one length?
My hairdresser asks me how much I want off and she normally takes off the bottom (longest length of hair) first to my desired length, and then layer the entire cut after.

Never heard that one before! I've had layers from one length hair, and re-layered layered hair. My hairdresser has never mentioned anything out needing one-length hair first.

I've never heard this. Do you mean if you have layers your stylist evens out your hair before you get layers again? Wow, you have a bad stylist....transfer.
