hehe...thats funny...it's little right? then sense it's just a little one it will be kinda crazy...me and my family had a black cat whne i was about 4 or five and im telling you that this thing was nuts! we took him to the vet and warned them not to put their hand in the cage...but the nurse decided not to listen and had to get five stiches after...he may just be scarred! his former owners might have treated him badly and he just doesn't know how to react to you! good luck with him and make sure he has all his shots!
P.S. BLACK CATS ARE NOT CURSED! AND HE WON'T CURSE U! the myth was made up when people believed that witches were real and claimed that the witch morfed into the cat to get away...that was the witches devil form...so sense we know that witches don't exist...IT'S NOT TRUE! good luck again!

That's what you're dealing with, a WILD CAT! He or she is used to being' wild. If the cat had a home before you adopted it, it probably was mistreated. So it's used to defending itself. That's why it acts like that when you raise your hand up at it. So, try to show it something different in affection for awhile to see if it changes how it acts toward you. I feel sorry for the baby. I just hope you are able to build a re-pore with it before you have to take a different avenue. Good luck.

I worked in an area next to a warehouse that had cats. The first night shift scared the heebee jeebees out of me because of the cats sounds. When we realized there were cats living in the rafters we called the fire department. They captured the mom cats (many moms) and the babies soon came out. The kittens were adopted with a warning that they were wild. The first time I went to a home that adopted one of the kittens it was a very interesting night. Adoptive parents after months said the kittens no longer lunged for their food, but were willing to eat from their bowls of food. The mom cats I took 2 in with 3 kittens of theirs, after my apt. went from demolition mode to normal they purred and lived until natural causes claimed them. All the cats and kittens I took in were black with green eyes, did crazy things like arching their backs when they saw themselves in the mirror, like saying Whoa...is that what I really look like? Enjoyed them for years....you will too..

maximum probable they'd have black kittens. often relies upon on the cats mothers and fathers hues by way of fact they'd have recessive coloration genes. The kitten I have been given a pair days in the past is black at the same time as its mothers and fathers the place: mom grow to be silver gray colored american shorthair and father grow to be orange and white Persian. talk approximately genetics!

I have two black kitties and they are the cutest things on earth. I have had all different color of kitten litters throughout my life and they all had their different personalities. Most kittens have all displayed your kittie's behavior, arching their backs and performing funny movements, they are learning how to look threatening to each other. The fact that the cat is black does not play any role in his/her behavior which is quite common. The fact the cat is black does however cause people to create mythes that are difficult to get rid of.

I have had cats of all colors and all cats play like this!
don't think that the color of his fur has anything to do with it! He is pretending he is on the prow! Your hand is about to attack him! He is just playing! Love that little Panther. And forget that superstition about black cats.

That is not restricted to black cats. My orange tabby did that when she was a kitten too. They're just trying to make themselves look big and dangerous. Actually, it's cute. They don't mean any harm, they're just babies.

Get him/her fixed. Cats tend to calm down after they're neutered or spayed, especially if they're male. Also, it takes awhile for strays to get used to their new surroundings. Give him a couple months to get used to you.
Good luck!

The term is feral. The cat and likely his ancestors have never been habituated.
