first of all iam sorry that you had to abort your baby, thats tough, and the other thing is , you cannot ask a smoker to quit smoking, We the smokers dont want to change, Its this thing see, its like we cannot live without our ciggerettes, once we start we are teens, and we think nothing is wrong with smoking, we ignore the cancer warnings on the ciggerettes, Cause we feel fine, Listen, Stop asking him, If you really weant him to stop, try this, tell him to start smoking outside and not in the house, a new house rule

So start because of peer pressure, some to be cool, some for other reasons but once they get on them they are hooked. They just did a report on tobacco recently on History Channel and it told how addictive it is, more than heroin or coccaine combined. It is a drug and as such it is going to have to be dealt with as that, a habit that is not easy to control or stop. Not impossible to do but very hard for most. There will be withdrawal symtoms and such as all drugs have when you come off them but you are not to blame for the baby and neither is he. The smoking could have done some harm to it but I would check with the doctor to be sure what the cause would have been before blaming anyone. You can put your foot down and let it be known you will not put up with any smoking in the house or the odors of it come into the house, which means he would have to change clothes before coming in and use mouthwash as well and maybe even shower. Let it be known that you do not want that kind of thing around you and if he wants to do it, do it elsewhere with someone else that likes it. If he really has as much love for y ou as you may think, he will want to quit not only for you but for himself, which is the best reason to quit, for personal reasons. He has to see the result of the habit taking over and that it is not acceptable in your world as well as it is very costly too. At just one pack a day at $5 a pack it is almost $2000 that is being burnt up so he can kill himself faster. I dont' know about you but i could sure use an extra $2000 a year.

being a smoker I know that only you can quit smoking when you WANT to quit. When I was 16 my parents told me that they'd give a car if I quit. and at 16 that's all you want right? Well, I did. I quit for a month and half, but that was it. They told me to quit for longer and I just couldn't. The pressure I felt inside myself to be "cool" and "fit in" with my firends was too overwhelming. I started again. So, what I'm trying to say is that no matter what, he has to want to quit, not you wanting him to quit will be enough
If you aborted, it's not JUST because he didn't quit smoking. You may be trying to use that as an excuse to cover for the other reasons

You aborted your baby?? or you had a miscarriage? Im sure it didnt have anything to do with him smoking if you had a miscarriage but its still not good at all for him to be smoking around you. Miscarriages usually happen because there is somehting wrong with the baby genetically, etc.. Buy your husband some Smoke Away and tell him to use it...It works!

Because everyone has the right to be morbidly stupid.
I honestly have nothing against smokers, I was raised around them all my life and its just something people do, I would never ask someone to put one out (it would never cross my mind). But, I do understand why you would want the best chance for your unborn, however, you have to understand that a heroin addict has about the same chance of quitting as a smoker.
Good luck and god bless!

#1 quiting smoking is incredibly difficult it is a scary addiction and people dont just quit cause they are asked nicely
and... people start smoking mainly because their friends did it when they were younger, they thought it made them look cool or older, their parents smoked, ect
