It says much more about the NY Times and Al Sharpton than it does about the cops. These criminals attempted to murder police officers who were doing nothing more than their jobs. It was entirely appropriate for the cops to respond with deadly force. They kept firing (and shouting for Bell to stop) because they did not stop trying to murder the cops with their vehicle.

Most of the important details were intentionally left out of the newspaper account and completely distort what happened. Now that the real story is out, Sharpton still lies about what happened. Basically, he is using this phony controversy for purposes of race baiting.

The cops did their job and are fully vindicated. Sharpton is scum. So are the staff at the NY Times.

You know I read about this the day it happened. I don't think it says anything good about the NYPD. I DO NOT think that all of the police in NYC can be judged by the stupid act of a these few officers. From what I understand these cops were performing a sting at the same strip club that Sean Bell and his friends were at. Keep in mind that all of this original info was coming from the media and they were getting it from who>>. NYPD.
Honestly, even if the party of Sean Bell "WAS" acting inappropriate at the club...how does that justify 50 plus shots to be fired at their vehicle????
When there is a stand off between police and a suspect...you don't hear about officer's firing 50 plus shots at the suspect. There is no way what so ever that this is EVER going to be justified. What this tells me about the NYPD is that there officer's are out to bully. There is apparently no accountability. If all of those young men had died that night, we as a nation would have never known the difference. If they had all died, the officer's would have made up some big dramatic story about some huge stand off or shoot out. They would have painted themselves as the heroes and/or the victims. Apparently the NYPD needs to reconsider what they think makes a good officer....maybe they are hiring these guys too young. Young men tend to be territorial and impulsive.
