Genesis 5:27 And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died.
He was Noah's grandfather, and had died just before the flood of old age.
People became too corrupt the longer they were allowed to live, so God shortened the life span of mankind.
Genesis 6:11
The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
Those days are not much different in it's corruption and violence etc then what we have in our world today. God will once agan and for all rid this planet of all of it's corruption and sin, when Jesus returns for His Chruch/bride. Praise the Lord!!

Methuselah is reported to have lived 969 years.
In recent US history, a man by the name of Charlie Smith lived to the age of 137 or 139, dying in the late seventies.

We live longer today then in the past because of medical advances. If you are referring to the bible, bible acount of time are purely symbolically and should not be taken literal (this is coming from a christian too). They were meant to show the wisdom of a person and were not literal time periods that they lived. Methuselah (969 yrs old) was the longest living person according to the bible (Gen 5:26-27). The longest unambiguously documented lifespan is that of Jeanne Calment of France (1875-1997) who was aged 122 years and 164 days at the time of her death.

Gen. 5:27 Methuselah ....969 years
They did not eat meat way back then until after the flood. That started to cut their life span down quickly. Check it out in the Bible...it gives how long they lived before and after the flood.

Methuselah lived 969 years. People only lived that long during the pre-flood era.

the oldest recorded man alive is in the Bible. his names was methusela, and he lived to be 969 years old. apparently back then before the flood there was a large layer of water between the sun and the earth that protected the earth and humans from it's harmful rays. then after the Flood, all that water was gone, and according to records, since then, man's life span has been getting shorter and shorter.

It is said there are people around today who know how to use spiritual
power, and are over a 1000 years old.
From what I understand, those who use power for evil intent, are afraid
they won't be forgiven, and are like psychic vampires. Draining the life
out of others, to keep from falling into the abyss.
BELIEVE IT, OR NOT!

According to the Bible, Methusela was 999. I don't think people really live longer these days. In ancient story telling traditions, the age of a person would be used to tell how wise the person was. So, a very wise person would have a very old age, no matter what their actual life span was.
