Yes, prayer can change the course of ones life and bring peace and joy so it can also do that.
Prayer has no limitation, either of distance or place, witha pure and sincere heart, prayer can do wonders. It brings the seed of enlightment and is able to change a situation. It warms the lonely heart and brings shelter to the homeless. Prayer imprisons our fear and let loose our joy.

Why beg for a God to do something for you that simple meditation can do?

Don't you do anything for yourself? Are you always looking for some prayer to get this or that. Why doesn't this God just create a hot line. You know 1 900 Pink Elephant! Perhaps then you'd realize HE IS NOT REAL!

Yes, I do know a prayer that can do that. The amazing grace which you can either say or sing.
Psalm 51 may not be bad to say.
