You have my deepest sympathies! Your mom is dead wrong!!! You are a child of God - God loves you just the way you are. It is your mom's role as a parent to offer you guidance, love and reassurance.

You are not possessed by evil spirits if you don't do something your mom wants you to do. This is a cop out on her part. It is easier to tell you some cock 'n bull story about evil spirits rather than take the time she needs to take to correct your actions and/or offer the right discipline for the deed.

You mom is in need of counseling. Learn this lesson and take it through for the rest of your life - no extreme is any good! Whenever you see someone going outside the normal stream of life like your mom (when she tells you that you should only watch preaching all the time and that evil spirts are possessing you when you misbehave), always, always, always remember there is something wrong with that picture - you need to rise above it.

Live you life well. Be a good person. don't hurt anyone and go out of your way to help someone. Love God and love your neighbor as you love yourself (key here is that you need to love yourself first-if you don't you have nothing to give to anyone else).

Talk to a trusted adult friend or teacher. You should not be subjected to this kind of religious ridiculousness!

Pushing others into a religion is evil.

You mother, wether she will admit it or not, is judging you just because you are using the FREE WILL that has been given to you.

I do not follow Any religion, Yet I do believe in doing onto others as they would have done on to you.

meaning i treat others with respect , for i wish to be respected . And for those who do not respect me, i walk away from.

if they become aggressive or angery, i still remain calm, and walk away, for they show there evil more then anything.

You r mother, would judge Jesus himself , if he stood in front of her and said " ah.. im not going to church today."

you should tell your mother this following story sometime:

A woman walking home , sees a man on the street in pain. The man smells of alcohol and drugs, and has poor rugged ripped clothing. His leg is broken and he is dying from loss of blood. Many people , whom are christians , walk by and do not help him.
Yet the woman kneels down to the man, and picks him up, and carrys him to a hospital. Saving his life.
What will the man say to her , " are you a christian? if not then get out of here and dont come near me again."

No, he will say " Thank you ! You have saved my life !"

AND indeed, what will the christians do when they realize that the man was GOD himself !

What will Jesus say , "woe to those whom help without going to church"

or " Bless those whom love without judgement"

he said " I am the way and the light ."

NOT " the Church is the way and the light"

tell this to your mother, in fact let her read this, and she will know that these words come straight from God himself.

no, but there are 'bad' Christians who make it bad. bi bad I mean, they mean good, but go about it in bad manner. as one who was possessed bi evil spirits several years back, I can tell you it was an experience you would never forget... very few people ever get possessed and possession does not last long, either... usually very brief. the human body cannot accept demonic possession or even the Holy Spirit immersion for long periods... it's too physically overwhelming. that is silly and irresponsible talk from your mother trying to scare you to Christ. that is NOT what Christianity is about, sorry. it's about having your past, current and future sins being forgiven bi admitting you are a sinner and then accepting God's unending grace and forgiveness through accepting His only son Jesus who died for you as your personal Lord and Savior, so that you may have eternal life. all of the rest is essentially peripheral and involves how to be a better Christian, but not how to BE a Christian... being a Christian is only the first step... there are so many more, should you choose to make that decision, but you make them WILLINGLY... freely.

if you wanna see a really cool church where you don't even have to get dressed for, check out my church... Lifechurch.tv and its companion confessions site MySecret.tv that made national news in the Times, Today, etc. only a few weeks back.

they are NON-condemnational or judgmental and super cool... our local campus rocks your socks off. today's experience was awesome. you can go inperson or online... I do both. just remember... Christians are humans who are not perfect, just forgiven.

---------------------

having read your additional details, Julia, I must say your mom is in my opinon... mentally unbalanced... at the very least, preoccupied with evil. look, we as Christians know that evil exists, but why look for it or give it so much credibility? your mom is making evil more of a focus than her walk with the Lord and all of his love and grace. she is missing the point of what being a Christian is about... sure, she bought a ticket to the movie, but she's complaining all the way through the film and missing the story as well as the fun. being a Christian should be fun... sure there are challenges, but as a Christian, you should have JOY and HAPPINESS in your life, not horror and anger. your mom needs more prayer than you IMO... you'll do fine. just move away from your mom if you're old enough... and have her get some good Christian (away from her church) professional counselling... soon.

What kind of church is she going to?I don't mean to point fingers, but there are only a few times I've really heard of something that extreme and only amongst two types of churches.Pentecostal and Holiness.I went to the latter for a few years, and we weren't supposed to have t.v. at all.Not watching trash won't hurt you,but I don't think you should have to watch religious programming all the time.Maybe she is trying to get you to watch less t.v.I would do something besides watching t.v. when she's home.Just be careful about the possession thing.I don't think my former church really believed in that, and they were pretty out there.

Some people just can't except life as is. So they get some preconcieved notion of what it's supposed to be, and in order to maintain that notion, they have to make sure everyone else follows it (including their children). Moreover, if she's convinced that everything in the world is evil, it only makes sense that she'd want to protect you. Unfortunately, that's all contingent on everything in the world being evil, which isn't really accurate.

She goes a bit overboard to compensate for things she fears beyond her control.

As a non-Christian, I suggest you do not judge all of Christianity by her.

Also, while she seems stiffling now, try to appreciate that she's donig what she thinks is right as a parent. A few years from now, no one will care about America's Next Model, but you and she will still be family.

As in anything in the world, it's all in the eye of the beholder. We all have our own interpretations of religion and how far we will take it, and your mom is just a little more extreme than your average Christian. She reminds me of one of those Christians that thinks dancing is evil.

She'll realize she's a little overboard when she sees the angels dancing, watching cartoons and all-around enjoying life. There's no changing her mind though. She thinks this way of life is her ticket to Heaven.

This is the sad reality of what belief in a spooky God that likes to kill children will do to a persons mind! Their God is so sadistic and evil that these people see evil spirits all over the place!

I have yet to hear of one Atheist or Buddhist claiming to see any spirit let alone have one bother us. Perhaps it's that spooky holy ghost running around scaring people. He may be bored!

Wow.I think your Mom needs to take some time out.She might be listening to the man behind the pulpit more than her heart. She might mellow out over time.
Good luck!
