I constantly hear that lean meats such as chicken, turkey, and fish are always preferable to red meat because of its high fat content. But it's also got a great deal of iron ... What are the nutritional and other benefits of beef, and should I keep it in my diet? Thanks.

I'm off mammals entirely. No problems. Just eat as much a variety of everything else. Variety is the key to a good diet, not any one particular kind of food. Proportion is important, though. Have a look at the food pyramid as a rough guide.

There are substances in red meat that aren't in the others so cutting it out won't be recommended. Though having your diet consist more or turkey, chicken, and fish would be healthier. Eating more fish is a great way to get healthy fat and protein.

Beef is an excellent source of protein. It helps build muscle. Fish, chicken, and turkey are also excellent sources of protein, so it is possible to cut out beef from your diet and still get a lot of protein from those other foods. Personally, I would not cut out beef from my diet. I love steak and hamburgers too much.

its not a bad idea to cut beef out as long as you are still getting enough protien from other sources you will be fine
