i understand that is against the law to regulate lanes in an intersection in California, even if human beings do it besides. i have under no circumstances heard of a regulation saying you won't be able to replace lanes at the same time as turning. perhaps what they were asking is even if that is criminal to tutor right into a lane that would not correspond to the lane you've been in (as an example, you're contained in the rightmost lane and also you're making a suitable change into the second one-rightmost lane on the go street), that is criminal.

What state are you from? In Arizona it is legal if done safely.

Not in California. Don't know about other states, each state has it's own laws so it makes it hard to know what to do and where to do it or not.
