Woah, Truth Teller - more tedious mental cholesterol to clog up another Yahoo Question - thanks a lot,
I appreciate it, means a lot to me, mate

Mr Stick,
yet again, reams of turgid, unproven religious rant, with statements such as "God has always existed". I am not mistaken. The god of the major religions IS a fabrication of adherents to those faiths.
As for my education - I am quite well educated in the humanities, art, literature, etc. I'll admit that my learning how to write reams of religious waffle is very limited, but I somehow seem to survive very well without that "skill.

Also, Mr Stick,

What is it with these "Read this and get back to me" requests? How dare you be so patronising. You are setting youself up as some kind of hawker of non-truths and unprovable nonsense, and you expect sane adults to listen? Get real.

"Just believe there is a god" ???? NO, I refuse. I start from the standpoint that there is no god. If you want me to move from that standpoint, put your undeniable proof in front of me. Until then, I will agree with Dawkins that you have the religion virus.

Truth Teller... or Zakir.....

Pretty impresive answer... Masha'Allaah....
We should chat sometimes....

Anyways...... to the questioner!
Your question has mistakes.
One, your assuming that everyone believes that God is an invention of humans, because your question, says "Would you agree that because god is an invention of humans",, and then your stating to what we should agree on, which is "he is vindictive, oppressive and arbitrary? ".

The question should be
"If you believe God does not exist, do you agree that He is vindictive, oppressive and arbitary?"

Well...... read the whole of my answer to, Does God Exist?/Is there a God?
The answer to Is there a God? Is located at this link (my [Mr Stick] answer) http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Alzr.D9Jl..0UfDo0XNoP1UgBgx.?qid=20061201151012AATCrUR&show=7#profile-info-2333a6c69e3dd18c08bc5032e0e3f148aa

Your second question... God has always existed. Did he create himself.... No... how is that possible... He was and always has been there.. End off.... thats how much you need to know about this. Just beleive there is a God, and he has been there. Forget the question how was he here, did he create himself ect...

Also here read my answer to thi question as well

Thats a refutation to God does not exist and is He an invention of Humans?

The last part of your question, is not appropriate.

It shows, your not very educated, by the question you put forth.

That's a fairly narrow view of religion in general. The concept of god and gods has evolved over thousands of years, and only a handful of religions are monotheistic. I assume you're thinking mainly about the three major monotheistic religions known to Western society - Christianity, Islam and Judaism.

Humans' concept of god or gods definitely encompasses a lot of human qualities, but with hyper-extended, immortal elements. People have created various deities with various functions, which is a reflection of human need. The deities worshiped possess human and super-human qualities, as well as various functions, which includes both positive and negative traits.

I won't say the gods worshipped are vindictive, oppressive and arbitrary, though those (human) faults are sometimes there as well (when they serve a function). People are also capable of being good and benevolent, and hence have designed their deities to have positive qualities as well.

Whatever the adjectives you use to describe God, but is believing in Him compulsory? I think not, so let those who follow this belief do so without falling foul to your scorn.
It surprises me that many bearing your kind of thoughts only come into believing in God when fate inflicts harm into their lives or when they are approaching old age. From the belief of God comes philanthropists and remember, this God allows you democracy and even welcomes you back after your hallucinatory journey through life. But have you found what you are looking for in life? Obviously not, because the world you live in is churning out new things everyday, be there ideas, or technology. But God doesn't change, His policies have remained the same since time immemorial and those who follow Him don't have to contend with changing to this or that for His commandments are still the same as in the times of Jesus.
So whether God is an invention of humans, then let accolades galore be directed to whoever coined this belief on us instead of directing them to the inventors of weapons of mass destruction, for through that belief flows wisdom and tolerance. I do hope one day you will convert your children and friends towards this belief.

I would say that any god is whatever people want them to be. They are all inventions to explain the natural world. It also is an amazing little cop-out as well, for when things go wrong. Just blame it on the will of god. Or, if your religion has a zoroastrian edge, on whichever evil deity your god created.

If one believed that humans invented God, it would be possible to think that. Humans didn't invent anything of the spirit realm. It would also be possible to think that if God invented humans, he is vindictive, oppressive and arbitrary. I choose to believe neither. We all have choices and can remain in our little box if we choose. I believe there is a different realm than we as humans cannot even begin to understand unless we want to open our minds to the supernatural and let go of our arrogant concept that we are all there is.

No. He has given us the chance to see with our own eyes (I know that's a tautology, but it's for emphasis and the fact that the word "see" can be taken in more than one way) what happens when we try to rule ourselves. God wants everyone to live, be happy and have all the blessing He can bestow, to which there is no lmit. (2 Peter 3:9)

The god of human invention is just so, but the God of all truth is perfection personified.

Perhaps that is why He can only be known by revelation.

Men are responsible for twisting and distorting his image, not creating it.

For example, no matter what Howard Stern believes, God doesn't get a kick out of killing innocent babies...those are just stories from a book.

2006-12-03 14:32:45 · answer #9 · answered by James P 6 · 1 0

No, I wouldn't. God is not an invention. Sin is what makes humans vindictive, oppresive and arbitrary. And not all humans are that way. I'm sorry if that's your experience of others, but it certainly isn't mine...

This is your image? Oh well.

You definitely got the doctrine on the image and likeness of God wrong, but you don't seem to want to listen to the correct one.
