not really "hate". it just means that you think that the person you pity is basically pathetic, and it kind of in the back of your mind sickens you. It isn't the same as empathy, because you're looking down on the person, etc.

No. Although in today's world of pride and so many little "gods" running around, it is hard to receive pity. No one wants to be pitiful but some of us are. But I guess a healthier word would be compassion.

No, I don't believe that. Hate has no regard for another person or their situation, while pity holds some concern for anothers condition.

I would never compare pity to hate.
Hate is at the opposite end of love.
Both very strong emotions.
Pity in the middle.

No, pity means sympathetic or kindly sorrow evoked by the suffering, distress, or misfortune of another, often leading one to give relief or aid or to show mercy.

It means that your spirit has put you into that persons place and can feel their suffering.

Pity is where you feel sorry for them. If its something that you don't need to feel sorry for, then it is a version of hate.

Usually it is just feeling sorry for someone's state of mind or being.

It depends how shallow and superficial you are. I seldom feel pity for anyone but when I do it's genuine.
