my boyfriend _loves_ to fight, i and love it, too..

the only problem is...i can't! ^^
my only friends who like to fight are guys and i can take a hit from them, i just never get a hit back...

so i want to get good, i hardly have any talent at it, but i'm willing to devote myself to it.

To learn means to be taught. Join a martial arts gym. Muay thai is probably best for striking, while brazilian Jiu Jitsu is best for grappling. A striking art is virtually worthless if someone tackles you and your both on the ground. Guys don't like girls that fight, though (for real I mean). Are you gangsta?

If you want to really test yourself and learn self defense take a model muggling course. MOst self defense is half-speed with some guy who grabs your arm and stands there while you pretend to hit him. Model muggling is a guy in pads and a big squishy helment and he comes at you and screams at you and calls you names and tries to scare you while he tries to throw you on the ground (kind of like a real rapist would) and you get to beat the crap out of him (kind of like you would have to in order to stop someone for real). I have been in martial arts for almost 24 years and have never seen a better self defense course. Most of them are one or two day seminars. You dont need to learn alot of fancy kicks and strikes. You learn how to not freeze up when you are scred and you learn how to hit someone where it counts and mean it. You can do martial arts for years and not learn that.

I'm guessing you are wanting to learn about self-defense. There are classes offered frequently by community colleges, TiKwanDo Dojos, some gyms, and police departments. It is always best to avoid conflict, especially physical. You are a small person and could easily be overwhelmed.

Sign up in a martial arts class... (Karate, Tai Kwan Do) Or a self-defense course. Look up in your yellow pages.

Try boxing. It's an awesome workout and gets you in the best shape of your life. You'll have an awesome time both in the class and out of it, being able to kick all the boys' as*ses. ; )

You could take a self defense class at your local community college. Or you could take karate classes.
