I've had one of my contacts in for 3 days, my eye is red and sore and really hurts. I can't seem to get it out and I'm wondering if anyone has any tips on how to get it out because I'm in pain and it really hurts when I touch my eye to try and get it out and it won't come out!!!

just pull your eyelid taut to the side and blink. It pops right out. For a soft lens, use a few drops of rewetting or solution to keep the lens wet. Look up, touch the lens, and let it slide down and over to the outside corner of the eye. The lens will bunch up, so it's easy to fold out

Put few drops of contact solution in your eye, then use one hand to hold open your lashes while you suck it up and pluck it out using the other fingers. Try to push it around with the smooth part of your finger rather than the nail to prevent hurting your eye even more. It will hurt a bit, but the longer you leave it the dryer it will get. I suggest you follow the directions on your lenses. I take out my monthly lenses every time I sleep or shower to ensure they are nice and moist. If you still can't get it out, I am sure you can go to an eye doctor. They will probably help free of charge.

Been there done that: I wear glasses instead
Your eyes are something I would not mess with; go to the optometrist
If you prolong the situation it could result in temporary loss of eyesight maybe even permanent loss;
You should flood your eye with saline solution to make it feel better After the contact is out Rest you eyes for at least 2-5 days

Wow...that is way to long to wait. You should take them out every night.

Okay, here's what you can do. Make sure your finger-nails are short. It is hard to get contacts out with long nails.:

First, Wash your hands.

Get out the saline solution and flush out your eye until it is nice and moist.

Dry your fingers and the area around your eye.

With your left hand open the top of your eye, use the middle finger on your right hand to hold the bottom. Use your index finger and thumb to "pick" the contact off your eye...don't use the nail, just the tips of the fingers. It might take a few tries...just let your fingers slide together as if you were pinching the contact off your eye.

Option 2 is this: open your eye the same way. Put your index finger right on the contact and drag it over to the INSIDE corner of your eye. It will wrinkle up and should come out. If it is wrinkled up and doesn't come out then use your thumb and finger to pick it up. Just keep on pusing it into the inside corner of your eye until you can get it.

Option 3: Head over to the nearest ophthalmologist and ask for a little help. The doc can take it right out for you and their assistant can teach you how to do it yourself. It takes practice....

Good luck!

If you don't have eye drops for contacts, then use saline solution. Squirt some in your eyes and then gently rub your eye with your finger with your eyes closed, by rubbing it through your eyelid, for a few seconds. Keep putting in the saline solution in your eyes and rubbing like this and the lenses should loosen after a bit so that you can safely remove them.

Don't try to remove the lens without doing this because the lens can pull away part of the eye tissue when it's dry.

well first of all you don't ever leave them in for more than 8 hours ( i would have thought your dr. told you that) because you can get and infection... if you can't get ahold of it just close your eye and gently rub towards your nose it may take a minute but when I can't get the little buggers this works for me, but at this point if you are in pain from the contacs I would either go to the Dr. or ER because you might already have a serious infection and when it comes to your eyes thats nothing to mess around with also they will help you get the contacs out if you can't do it

You know your risking losing your eye sight. I can imagine the pain your in because i keep my contacts on for 12 hours and my eyes are blood shot and dry. What i do is put eye drops in my eyes to moisturize my eye and make the contact moveable enough to remove.

Is the lens still in the right place? Can you see clearly? If so, you need to apply to rewetting drops (NOT visine) and wait a couple of minutes before taking the lens out. If you just woke up or your eye is dry, the lens will stick to your eye.
