Does anyone know what makes a digital camera take pictures so fast? I have a digital camera that takes the picture and then takes 6 seconds to load...When I used my friends camera, her camera took the pictures and loaded almost instantly! So does anyone know what that is?

Hmmmm

Why not call your friend and ask which camera she has??

Go to www.dpreview or www.stevesdigicams to research cameras, The measurements you are looking for are shutter lag and write time. One is the time it takes when you push the button to take the picture, the other the time it takes to save the file to the memory card. Newer cameras have greatly improved in both areas.

Generally, two things - the amount of buffer (temporary) memory available to write your digital data, and the storage device type. RAM storage will be quicker than a mini hard drive, and some forms of RAM are quicker than others.

Data buss speed also comes into play, as well as the type of sensor chip (some chips read serially and some in parallel).

The single and burst speed of taking the image is one of the key factors contributing to the cost of the camera.

Yeah. A cheap POS vs. a decent camera.
