oh I hope someone answers. I'm looking for a brand new peugeot 407 turbo diesel estate but only have £1000 as I too am on a budget.
If anyone knows how to get things at a fraction of their value, please respond.
I notice that once again lots of Americans have replied with totally invalid replies. Chuhuahuas are very popular here in the UK and in 20 years of being involved in rescue I have only heard of 2 or 3 which ended up in rescue,
We don't have the massive commercial puppy farms like they do in the states, nor do we sell puppies in pet shops generally over here for any dipstick with a credit card to impulse buy.
So all the replies about dog pounds, and costing XXX amount of $$$ simply have nothing to do with the UK answers section that the question was asked in. Please Americans, stick to your own questions cos you know diddly squat about the goings on here in the United Kingdom.

On ePupz there are crosses from £70. Some of them are adorable. The cheapest purebred is £300 ... because he's a bit big but he may be just what you're looking for.

There's a warning about a fraud on the first page ... someone trying to scam people by offering cheap puppies ... so please read that too.

They may be less expensive if rescued via Chihuahua Rescue (rather than purchased via an ad) -

I think the problem is that they are so popular at the moment ... other breeds cost a lot less ... though of course most of them, if a similar size, cost the same to feed & look after.

Good luck

everbody wants chihuahuas now adays, but you wont get one for the amount your asking, sorry. I have 5 chihuahuas and i have paid thousands. You could try the british chihuahua club, http://www.the-british-chihuahua-club.org.uk/ they have a few from time to time, the dog homes send them to the club. I have recently had a litter of chixpoms which were lovely, view my 360 for pictures, a cross would be more in your money limits. Epuzs and ad-mart are good sites to look., for you to find either. You could try your local vets and paper. You may have more luck after christmas!! If you find a breeder they may let you pay instalments. Good luck

Sorry, can't resist... I've never seen a chihuahua over 300 pounds!!

Seriously, check with a local humane society or rescue organisations... many small dogs go quickly at the shelters, but if they know what you are looking for and have your name on a list they will call you when that type dog comes in. You may have a bit of a wait... but then you could be getting things ready and saving money for your new buddy's vet care and such.

Animal Shelters or Chihuahua rescues - you can find them on line. There are lots of Chihuahuas in the shelters in the US because people get them and then cannot adjust to their ways so they dump them. A Chihuahua is a great pet and very loyal but they attach themselves to their person and they do not want that person out of their sight. They are great with kids but they are scared of them.

Chihuahuas have special needs because they are so tiny and they shiver and cringe a lot - they need sweaters, blankets and love

Chihuahua's are quite expensive dogs, if you arent worried about a well established breeder or having a dog from a champion female and dog, look at all the dog shelters like Battersea dogs home, RSPCA and the Dogs trust, just look them up and you can view dogs on their website, see if they have any Chihuahuas.
If not try this website www.epupz.co.uk, its where there are many breeders who want to sell their dogs.

If you can find a reputable breeder ask what they want with out papers for the dog.If you are not going to be a breeder you don't need them, you are going to get this dog fixed and it will not contribute to the DNA pool.
Look into your local animal shelter there should be alot of small type dogs that are looking for good homes.
Be weary on some of the rescue sites. Some of these people are out of there minds when it comes to these dogs and will ask for the Moon if you try to apply for one of their rescues.

Petfinders.com. You can adopt a pet for a small fee. Much cheaper than getting one elsewhere. The purchase of the dog is just the begining. You have a ton of shots the first year.At petfinders, the dogs already have most shots if not all.

Via rescue or www.petfinder.com most likely will be an older dog, but include shots & neutering. Also, contact the breed club. Sometimes members have older dogs they are willing to place. There is such a high demand for pups, that only people who breed unhealthy ones will have them cheaper.
