I have a squirt bottle filled with water. Everytime my cats get near my tree I squirt them. It seems to be working.

You could squirt him with water whenever he does it, but it will only work when you're around. I recommend sprinkling pepper. Maybe a spray bottle with water and cayenne pepper would work. Spray it on th elower limbs and see if he'll avoid it for smell/taste.

Get him some catnip toys and I think there is something you can spray on the tree to repulse him too.

Hi there...consider using Grannick's Bitter Apple deterrent spray for pets: http://www.grannicks.com/ . It's safe and non-toxic as well.
