I'm a Christian and I don't think Catholics are stupid. There are alot of religions that I don't agree with in theory but that doesn't mean I think they are stupid and I hope they don't think I'm stupid if I don't agree with them. My conflicts are in praying through Mary,Having a priest intervene with Christ for me and pergatory or praying people out of hell. I believe Christ's blood was sufficient for the forgivness of my sins, After all isn't that what He died for? He died for the sins of all mankind before we even sinned.Salvation isn't earned,it's a gift. All we have to do to be forgiven is first believe Christ died for your sins and then repent and then ask him to forgive you and the Bible says that He will. The Bible does say to confess your sins one to another and He will be faithful to forgive us.It doesn't say anything about pennance. Christ suffered terribly when He shed His blood on the cross for our sins. When He died, needing a priest to intercede for us became unnecessary. That is the role Christ takes in our lives. We pray to Him and He takes it to our Father. We can do directly to Him.I simply don't believe in praying through anyone to have my prayers heard. What we need as Christians is to stop shutting the doors of communication between us. God bless you. This is the season of our Saviour's birthday. Let us all ask for His wisdom,to bring us to one mind . You know, I observed watching the Hallmark channel that is full of Christmas stories;we try harder to get our children to believe in Santa claus than we ever do in Christ. Why aren't there a predominance of stories trying to reinforce Christ's truth. Santa and satan have the same letters. He really is succeeding at taking the emphasis off Christ and putting it on Santa.Get the word out. That is what's really important.God's blessings at this wonderful time.

I am a Christian and I don't think Catholics are stupid. I was actually raised and practiced the Catholic religion for 35 years, but there was something missing for me that I wanted to be closer to Jesus with so I became a born-again, non-denomination Christian. I feel that Catholics get a bad wrap on things because of the problems with priest, the money that is in the Vatican, and the rituals that are performed in Mass that people don't want to understand. From a person who has been there I still have respect for the church and its practices, but I have noticed in discussions that the things I have listed might be a few reasons.

I think it's the whole priest/altar boy thing and the fact that the church seems to have known about it alllll along. That and they run it like an empire with all the rulings coming from the top (no women in the clergy, no [meaningful] birth control, celibate priests) regardless of what society thinks or knows for a fact.

Oh, and then there's the part where every Catholic I've talked to save one has phrased things as you did in your questions. "Why Catholics this and Christians that". Like all the Protestants get that lesson in Sunday school that says they're all Christians. Why don't Catholics get taught that?

in my opinion i like many Catholics. My father is a Deacon interior the Catholic Church. i'm buddies with the interior of sight priest, Father Ed, he's recognize as around right here. we've a huge kin 12 babies from the comparable mothers and fathers. maximum of them are Catholic. on the Catholic, DeLa sal college the Catholic instructors are so severe high quality and sacrificing. i've got faith the Catholics do love the Lord. yet!!! they are announcing the Rosary to Mary all the time they have faith that the bread and wine easily grow to be the physique and blood of Christ and that they use beads, statues, and different products to worship with. All it is against God's word modern in scripture. Then once I take a seat and pass to with my father or the priest or different Catholics I see the fruit of their lips and that i see gossip, cursing, foul language, sexual oriented and demeaning language, hate for others and lots greater. it isn't the end result I show in my life. The Spirit of God teaches us that those issues are incorrect. The products and Rosary and statues and the depraved fruit that is all incorrect and the Lord himself tells us that a sturdy tree brings forth sturdy fruit and would possibly not deliver forth evil fruit. I pray that Catholics will see the errors and settle for God's actuality and not the tension of being politically maximum suitable Catholic. God bless and need you will discover.

A Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ. Which Catholics are, they were the only Christians around, until the Protestant 'Reformation' in the 1600s. The protestants have mostly a prejudice for a heirarchy(our pope, cardinals, etc) yet they have that in even independent churches. So its just something they were raised with hate catholics with no real reason behind it. Many thump on Bibles that our monks carefully preserved through writing each word by hand. They try digging up all sorts of 'secret'stuff which is found out, that never was a secret. or it was just a bunch of ancient heretical writings.
So just pray for them to gain knowledge and understanding for the real Truth. Many have converted eventually, like Scott Hahn who comes to mind because I was just watching him on EWTN a few hours ago, but the list is endless. If one searches for the Truth they will find it.

well...i like that you brought this up because I am pentecostal and i totally don't get the catholic religion

1)you guys believe in purgatory (wtf???)
-purgatory isn't mentioned in the bible (it's Heaven or Hell)

2)Use of Catechism of the Catholic Church instead of the Bible
-the bible is the only holy and infalliable word of christ

3)Mary, Mary,Mary
-catholics rely on Mary way too much....you guys pray to mary and use mary's symbolism more than Christ's...u name churches after her(immaculate conception, st.mary's, holy virgin of gaudalupe ,etc)

4)Birth control-makes no sense (even if you're married u can't use birth control???) why should the church regulate such a private matter?

5)Priests-why can't priests be married?
the Bible says for for a man to leave and join with a woman....that's why there is so much undercover pedophilia and homosexuality in the catholic church...men do have needs

All around teachings of Catholic church does not really mesh with the Bible...It's like you guys just made up stuff...so many teachings are not found in Bible and are opposite of what Jesus said!!!

Most Christians do not have anything against Catholics. Most Christians recognize that God doesn't teach hatred and intolerance.
The Catholic Church has had some problems in the past (i.e. the Inquisition, the Crusades) and professed to be acting in the name of God. Historically, we can look back on this and see that a lot of what was done was done for political and financial gain, though.
His Holiness Pope John Paul II actually apologized for these things, but many people who profess to love Jesus have a hard time following his example of loving other people.

P.S. - please don't forget that we Catholics are indeed Christians - the original Christians, in fact!

I don't have anything against catholics. I was born and raised one and my parents my mom in particular required and demanded her kids to go church.

When I accepted Jesus into my heart I left the catholic church not because I was angry but that it just was not for me, I needed other things in my life that this church did nor offer.

I do go to good Friday service with my mom who is Catholic and a strong believer in Jesus and I love on special holidays to go to the catholic church and pray because it is so beautiful and meditative.

I go to a Baptist church now and am very happy there, God has a different plan for all of us and this is where the Lord has me.

People should be in unity and harmony in the Lord and not fight about denominations of religion.

Catholics are Christians. Other Christians are called protestants. People of differing religions have always had animosity toward other religions. They shouldn't and most people don't. It's all a matter of misunderstanding and people of one religion resenting the attitudes of the others. In other words, ignorance. Don't let it bother you. For what it's worth, I'm not Catholic but, I respect the religion. There must be someting right about it. It has been around a long, long time.

I'm not sure. I'm a Christian and my Christian friends seem to have something against Catholics. I don't know what. I don't have anything against them, simply because I don't really know alot about their religion.
