what is new york like?

Has any1 got any good pics of nyc i can see coz i really wanna go and i dont knw if it is worth going or not. What is shopping like there and bars?

well if you like traffic and a lot of people... go. i was just in nyc and had a lot of fun. it was so different from the small city i live in now. shops are everywhere and busy all day. they have the common ones you find anywhere and the ones you barely see which is great. im only 16 so im not sure about the bars. i usually go to every Hard Rock Cafe i find but the wait was 2 1/2 hours. we took the night tour of the city on a bus. tour guide was great but you cant get off at night until the end. China Town is interesting but once again... very busy. we went to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island and they were alright. i enjoyed them cos i like the sort of thing but you might not. if you do go to the statue... buy the tickets in advance. they only give out a certain No of tickets a day. really easy to get lost if ya ask me so make sure you have a good map. you have to go to times square. very neat. we stayed a couple blocks away.
i did take some good pics but i cant find em. the city looks amazing at night.

I went to New York last year and loved it so much i didn't want to come back home! Watch Sex & The City to see what it's like. Central park was fantastic. The shopping was good too, but very expensive for most things. CDs are a bit cheaper, as are electrical goods (but i don't think you can use them in the UK). You can get cheap Levis if you go out of the city a bit though. If you like big cities, you'll love New York. Have fun!

it is absolutely worth going! shopping's great, although it can get a bit expensive on the high streets-would recommend a retail park in New York State for that. personally, i think new york's beautiful-but get yourself some comfortable shoes, you're going to be in for a lot of walking! if you really like city views, there are great views of manhattan from ellis island and liberty island. and if you go up the empire state building, go in the evening when the lights are just coming on...or early in the morning if you want to avoid the crowds.

and i would also recommend getting yourself a weekly pass-it's so much cheaper, and you often get to skip queues! i don't know so much about bars, but i would really recommend going! it was worth it!

New York is expensive but it's a great place to go for a weekend. I find all the buildings and noise and people a bit overwhelming if I'm there for more than a few days, but on a short-term basis, or if you like cities a lot, it's a fun place. There is everything you can imagine, in terms of shopping, cuisine, sightseeing...

I live here and she shopping is great dont have any pics but type NYC in a search engine and choose IMAGES to see. Yes Bars are good too...we have many if you are the party type

don't know where you're from but NY is definately worth visiting. so much to do a bar on every corner. makes bar hopping easier. so much history, so much activity. NY never sleeps!! don't have pictures but there are plenty of books w/ pictures of NYC
