Bleach is never good for your hair. But unfortunately, it's the only way you'll get your dark hair to be blonde.

I don't recommend it, I personally think dark hair is much nicer, but we all want what we don't have.

Good luck.!

Just my opinion, but I would not dye your hair bleach blonde since it is so dark. First of all the bleach is going to dry it out allot and damage it. The bleach will have to be left on your hair longer then if your hair was lighter to begin with and that's not good. You will also have horrible dark roots in just one week. The upkeep will get really old. Don't forget that after you bleach your hair, you will also need to put a toner on it so that it won't look yellow. When you have to dye your new roots you can not over lap on the hair that has already been bleached. You will have to have someone help you every time, especially in the back. Think long and hard before doing this.

Be very careful! Bleaching very dark hair can leave you with orange or yellow results. And, the hair closer to your scalp usually dyes faster than the ends so you could end up with yello-white roots and orange ends. Also, bleaching or stripping your hair weakens it, so you have to be very careful to rinse the bleach out exactly when you're supposed to. I learned this the hard way and I have never seen natural looking results on anyone who has done this at home. If you already had light hair I would feel differently but doing from almost black to blonde is risky, and I would leave that to a professional.

And YES --- bleach DOES contain peroxide. That is what lightens the hair! so bleaching hair IS more dangerous than dying it a darker color (which coats and fills in the hair with the pigment)

No not dangerous but please please have someone with you who knows what they are doing, bleach alters the chemical make up of your hair, it strips the colour away, and the damage can never be undone.

If you mess it up you will look awful!

Make sure you do a test strip first, to check you aren't allergic and so you know how long to leave it on for.

Bleach kits tend to leave a blanket colour, so every strand is the same colour, it looks fake and a bit nasty, unless you shell out a fortune to a realllly good hairdresser who will spend hours weaving loads of dif blondes in.

If it's just for high lights, that's not too bad, even if they mess up you can dye over the mistake without there being too much damage.
BUT, if you leave it on too long you risk buring your scalp and thinning your hair down to cotton wool texture, and if you take it off too early you will have ginger hair! Test bit really important, and time it, so you know how long to leave it on for.

Everybodies hair is different, so the times on the packet are just a rough guideline.

Good luck, but you know, I'm dark brunette, and I get more attention than my blonde mates......................

one, if your hair is that dark, i would highly recommend NOT doing this to your hair. most likely it will turn orange! the products sold in stores are not qualified to give you the results that the box says it will. meaning: the peroxide in those kits are most likely a 20 volume, therefor only lifting your hair 2-3 shades lighter than what it is originally. also, depending on how many times you have died it in the past, will determine how your hair will react to the color, damaging it or not. if you have "virgin" hair, than you will be fine. it will dry it out, maybe have some breakage, but all and all it will be fine. anyway, consult a salon and make an appointment to have it professionally done. this way you can skip all of the headache that you may encounter.

If I was you I would return the product you have just bought. Because you could be at risk for tangerine-to golden copper hair. Because the product consists of unbalance chemicals not suited for hair as dark as yours! It doesn't matter what the box says! Because I did the same thing like last wk ago. My hair turned bright orange! Everybody knows bleach is beyond damaging. But your hair could get worse if you colour it that extreme. Your hair will become over-processed. Then you would spend twice as much money trying to correct the process when all you had to do was go to a nearby salon. I recommend going to a professional colourist for further info. In my perspective Master-cuts in the mall is really cheap place to go to get professional colouring. For like $40. Which if you coloured your hair at home with that bleach product it would not only ruin your hair but an estimate of $60-80 or more to get corrected. I hope this information is helpful!

the best thing to do is to do a strand test, cut a small piece of your hair in a place you wont miss it, tie it with cotton at the ends, mix a small amount of the bleach,, put on the cut hair strand leaving for the length stated, rinse and let the strand dry, this will give a good indication of what colour your hair will turn out to be, most hair dyes bleaches recommend you do this especially first time. hope it turns out ok.

If your hair is dark it will go ginger. I would go to the hairdressers and let a proffesional do it. i used to bleach my hair blonde and belive me once you start with bleach thats it and it ruins your hair. Why dont you just get some hightlights put in it will look much nicer than a full head of bleach. If you do decide to go ahead make sure you have got a dye to put on incase you dont like it....

If it's bleach blonde as in platinum blonde then it is the least dangerous of all the dye colours, in fact, there should be either no or hardly any ammonia in it.

Your hair won't go bleach blonde though, it will just go a lighter shade of brown or maybe even a ginger colour.

I think dark hair is very beautiful anyway!

Dying in general is not exactly GOOD for the hair anyway.

the darker your hair the longer the bleach has to be on, so the more damaging it could be, and it's also less likely to come out a nice colour. Go to a salon and get some advice, and have a strand test done so you can see some results for yourself without a hair disaster

i`ve been every colour u can imagine over the last 6 years, and bleach is defo one to leave to the experts. im light blonde now but had a hard time getting the right shade. ive gone from jet black to bleach blonde twice (diy jobs) and if it doesnt turn pink or orange it will probably turn green/grey depending on the pigment in your hair. or even snap off! i`ve had it all happen.
