I would very much like to hear from those who are Islamic. I saw these posted as answers to questions here:

"submit to Allah or face the consequences... "

"you atheists should submit to Islam and or face the consequences before it is too late."

Are these comments made by a vocal minority, or are most who follow Islam intolerant of other religions? Why are these statements made in a way that sounds like the individual making them is the one who will deliver the consequences? Why not specifiy what these consequences are rather as part of a religous discussion rather than just make an intimidating statement? What "feeling" do these people get that gives them such a rush to be so aggressive about their faith? What is it about Islam that I just don't understand to be so confused about this?

Mark,
I appreciate your comments, but I am truly asking this question to better understand the Islamic point of view. Please edit your answer to enlighten me and help me better understand your faith.

I guess what I'm getting at is if they're responding to a question, why not make answers that contain to Islamic point of view on the topic at hand, rather than simply assert that anything that isn't Islam is wrong?

First of all we are not called Islamic we are Muslims, Just like when you say christian you say Muslims.
They are but minority who speak like this, they are called extremists. Most of them are not Arab so they do not understand the religion very well and misinterpret it. The Quraan which is the Holy book of Islam is written in Arabic so it is hard for non-Arabic speakers to understand it. "The Truth about Islam" has been called the "best, short introduction to Islam.

I am not a Muslim, but I have an idea of why these extremists are so, well, extreme. They have passion, you have to give them credit for that. But they do not respect our way of life (our western democracy) the same as we respect their right to their own beliefs. In our culture, we value our women's rights, our minorities' rights, and our right to freedom. In our society, we are allowed to have opinions that differ from one another. Islam requires women to be submissive and not allowed to express themselves, physically or emotionally. These extremists hate the fact that our women are allowed so much freedom. Some also believe that the Westerners (Americans) are evil and too influential to the world. We are hated. Not for any reason that you or I can feasibly understand. But that doesn't mean that ALL Islamic followers believe this. A majority of them respect Americans and their way of life. Why else would our country's walls be flooding with immigrants? They respect and envy what we have here. But it only takes a few bad apples to spoil the bunch.

In any case, the extremists who threaten these consequences are not true Muslims. Muhammed did not intend on his followers to be violent. Nor did he want them to hate. True Muslims will tell you this. These terrorists (if you threaten someone, you are terrorizing them) are hiding behind an innocent religion like cowards. The Muslims, the ones that truly know of the faith, suffer just as much as the rest of us because they are labeled and linked to these ungodly people. They threaten "consequences" because they need to feel bigger, more like men, because they obviously lack something inside themselves. You wouldn't discriminate by way of someone's gender, ethnicity, or their disabilities, so don't link all Muslims to these "extremists" because these "extremists" aren't true Muslims.

You know there are many people on this board who say things filled with hatred against Islam. Does that make their religions militant? A few people don't represent the entire religion. Most Muslims you will see on this board are friendly.

Allaha says in Holy Book (qura'an) in surah (109)

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

[109:1] Say: O ye that reject Faith!

[109:2] I worship not that which ye worship,

[109:3] Nor will ye worship that which I worship.

[109:4] And I will not worship that which ye have been wont to worship,

[109:5] Nor will ye worship that which I worship.

[109:6] To you be your Way, and to me mine.

Let's see. I would say that basically, these militants are cut off from other societies and the world in general. They choose to be this way. They are taught from the time they are babies to act aggressively regarding their faith. Too bad, isn't it? I think all religious wars are a slap in God's/Allah's face. Man can spoil anything good.

Very interesting question: thanks for asking it and Godloveya.

I have also seen on Yahoo, ''Accept Jesus or be doomed'', ''You will go to hell if you do not believe that Jesus is G-d'. etc.,.

What is the difference? Muslims are no worse than alot of Christians.

I am neither Muslim nor Christian, so I am neutral.
