Many people don't have a choice...most schools I have been at or heard of allow for very little free recess time, get PE 3 times a week or less...and teachers love using the bathroom as a privilege and not a right.

I feel it is very unfortunate because how do educators expect children to learn if they are worried about peeing in their pants in the classroom?

I'm not a parent, however as a child my dad had to go to my school several times to ***** out teachers who refused to let me use the washroom.

In the end my father told them that if I have to use the washroom, to raise my hand, ask politely and if they said no to just get up and go and if they have a problem with that you should write a letter saying that your child has a small bladder and is going to use the washroom whenever they need to.

Personally I would not send my child to that kind of school.

For physical excercise that is needed for children to be healthy....

I sure hope not. Where my kids go now they are allowed to go as needed, 1 at a time, with a class restroom pass. They get daily recess after lunch but only have gym class once a week. My son's teacher tried to withold recess from him last year as a punishment, but it only made things worse. Thankfully she stopped that and tried other methods of discipline. Kids need to run. Kids can't hold their bladders for 30 minutes. Some things schools are just backwards about.
