The ones with bells instead of vibration do not work.Pet Peeves in Goodwood On. used to sell them. They have moved or gone out of business.We use the vibrating feature,NOT the shock unless absolutely necessary.

On ebay, I've seen something else, recently.
There is a collar that sprays water on the dog's face and I know that this method works, it is used by several dog's trainers in Switzerland.
