ok so yesturday i asked this question
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

when i was asked questions like 1-4 i said i wouldnt consider any of these my name, but without being asked #5 i said that i would answer to them though.

most people stated that they wouldnt consider any of the "names" stated in questions 2-4 their name, but that they would probably answer to them.

all the different things people call God may not be his "name", but i still think He answers to them and it isnt as big of a deal as some people make it out to be. whats your take on all this??

In other cultures where the Judeo-Christian idea of God with whatever name you might choose (Jehovah, Yaweh, Elyonna, El Shaddai, Jesus etc) God may not be known by name but perhaps by the essence of who He is as the creator and sustainer of the universe. In such a culture before the birth of Christ, if a native was to invoke upon what light was available to him/her a faith that eternal salvation could be wrought through this unknown entity without a name for It/Him, do you not suppose that this salvation could be actualized by God who knows the hearts of man. Afterall the Bible says that Jesus created the world and isn't He the one that the Bible declares in whose name all might be saved that call upon Him? What is a name but a spoken reality of a truth that is revealed to the mind?

I understand what you are saying but if someone tries to call me by one of the titles you mentioned---and especially if the title didn't fit me---I wouldn't answer. If they call out and then described a male executive, who climbed mount Everest, I wouldn't answer because those descriptions don't fit me.
