Tis an excellent question! Personally, I think we can influence ourselves with our thoughts, which will lead possibly to actions; which will lead to deeds. Deeds will influence others. No, I don't think you will think something and it will influence someone in another country. How would you know you did anyway? I do think we are "connected" to certain people who are close to us in spirit and heart and at those times, we do think alike; maybe not "influence", but surely we have some of the same thought processes.

We influence people with our thoughts every day--our unspoken thoughts still influence our body language--heart rate, the dilation of our pupils--did you know your pupils constrict when you lie or dislike somebody you're looking at? all of these tiny little things are not picked up by the conscious mind, but are noted by the subconscious, like subliminal messages, and affect everybody around you

I think we can influence people everywhere if we go about it the right way. Everyone has some sort of commen influence. Most people would get along just fine, put face to face.

We are energetic beings living in an energetic environment/world. As thought is a form of energy, it can be directed. It's up to us whether we direct our thoughts for good or evil. Being creators, the choice is ours. And no. It is not necessary to have a connection with someone, be it past or present. But it can be helpful in aiding your focus.

Yes, I do. I believe that our connections with people connect us like chains or strings. And just as strings if you tug they will feel it and when they tug so will you. When you meet anyone there is a bond whether it be good bad strong or weak there is a bond that goes beyond "physical" distance. We are all a part of one another, all we have to do is realize it.

Yes. Our thoughts can be powerful. Negative thoughts draw negativity to us and positive thoughts draw positive events to us. And yes, if you concentrate hard enough you can influence someone far away.
