I know that when I can cry at a moment's notice from a stray thought (or tv commercials) that I am either hormonal or soul sick. Soul sick is like depression I guess, but that is how I think of it. I have found that at times like these there is inner work to be done.

Intention and visualization are the fastest working techniques I have found to help. Sit quietly for 3-5 minutes and relax. Get a good picture in your mind of what you want - see yourself happy, peaceful, confident - try to feel how it feels. Breath deeply while you see yourself handling situations with ease and confidence. The more clearly you can see it, the better it will work. Do that as often as you can - at least twice a day. [If you are angry at someone else, try to see them in your mind too - visualize them as happy and peaceful. It's hard to do at first but after about 3 days it was a lot easier. This is a kind of release of anger exercise that works very well.]

Couple that with consciously monitoring and correcting your thoughts. When you hear yourself say "I am ultra sensitive" stop yourself and say "That's not true. I am just the right amount of sensitive - my emotions are now in balance". If you hear yourself say "I need to run and cry" stop yourself and think "I am safe - if I stand here and see this to the end, I will find this can be easily dealt with." What you want to do here is replace the negative thoughts with positive ones. You are drawing a line in the sand and taking control - telling the powers that be how things will be from now on. Thoughts become things - choose the good ones!

I would also recomend Yoga. Yoga can be very grounding (in the floor poses), opening (the back bends) and help change your perspective (inverted poses) and bring balance to your emotions (some standing poses). Yoga Journal is a great place to start.

They have info for beginners: http://www.yogajournal.com/newtoyoga/index.cfm?ctsrc=tnav

as well as a pose finder that can help you target specific body parts or therapeutic applications: http://www.yogajournal.com/poses/index.cfm?ctsrc=welcome

I would try the ones for anxiety, fatigue and mild depression - and maybe mentruation if you think it could be a hormonal thing.

Now, having said all that, I must add that a doctor can probably tell you best. I only suggest these things as things I do for myself. You might have a hormonal imbalance (that wild yam cream might help) or you might need some herb to help stablize your emotions (like SAMe or Kava Kava - SAMe was a lifesaver for me when I had post partum depression) - but without knowing you, your history or medications you might be taking I would not feel comfortable really recommending those things. Take care hon.

Peace!

You mentioned that you are wondering if your depression is still here....I remember those days during my depression, and yes I could think about something, hear a song, certain smells would send me straight to the bathroom and cry. Please - if you have seen a doctor about the depression and was prescribed medication make sure you are taking it, go back and talk to your doctor. Maybe he needs to prescribe something different. You can get help - it is out there....Good luck

God is the Great Healer.

In the Beginning God created heavens and earth.
God gives you air to breathe and sunshine to enjoy.
God gives you water to drink and food to eat.
God gives you a wonderful body and sound mind, to live.
God loves you, and you are precious to Him.
Son of God died on the Cross to save us from condemnation.
Jesus’ love is boundless and everlasting.
We have the hope of Heaven through Jesus.
Life therefore has fantastic and glorious future!
(Digestion of above can even prevent depression and suicidal thoughts.)

sounds like a severe depression. i am sorry. are u under a doctor's care?
do bad thoughts continually enter your mind or are you in control of them?
think happy thoughts and definately seek some form of therapy/ medical attn. not because you are sick but just to help deal.
about being sensitive - that is who you are. it is ok to show emotion. but get the depression checked out.

I don't want to offend you but it sounds like you need a counselor and maybe some medication to help you with this. Believe me there is nothing wrong with either one. Depression is very serious and should be addressed by a professional.

Sounds as if you need to get all of it out!!!

Sounds like my 16 year old daughter. She gets this way when I say No to her, really. And I just let her get it out. We can talk now, but in the past she would just cry and carry on, like it was in end of the earth. But it isn't. Anger is deep seeded, and if you want to get rid of it, you need to identify what is going on in your own head when you feel this coming on. Once you find out what triggers it, fix it.
