Try some yoga and relaxation exercises. While you're waiting for therapy, try not to focus on what's causing your anxiety and do not put yourself into situations that will stress you out. Do you have some time you can take off of work or class? Are there activities you really enjoy, like snowboarding, museums, movies? Take some time to do things that you really enjoy. If you're procrastinating on anything, try to get those things done so they're not on your mind. These are just a few tips that I hope are helpful. I'm glad to hear you're going to be going to therapy.

This answer might not help you but atleast make you think a little, fist what level of anxiety do you have, is it a stress that seems just annoying and you worry for stupid things or you have anxiety disorder. thats an intense amount of anxiety that makes you sick mentally, emotionally and physically.

I found out I had severe anxiety disorder a few years back and I haven't done anything about it yet. It all started 17 years ago and now i have very little control over. i will not put myself on antidepressant for the rest of my life, and anti anxiety are ridiculously addictive.

All i can say, is try to be healthy, very hard thing to do when your not well thought. research A LOT I met plenty of doctors that pretend they were well educated about the subject...I really meant the word pretend. other seems to be directly paid from pharmaceutic companies and tries to feed you pills like candies.

no there is no getting rid of, you adapt you life around anxiety. although there is healthy stress and unhealthy stress. if it hurts you or affect the way you think or live you life on a daily manner, you'll need to be well educated to learn to deal with it. everybody has anxiety, but it doesn't consume there lives, thats what you have to learn.

It depends what kind of anxiety you have. I had chronic hyperventilation which triggered frequent (I'm talking up to 5 times a day) panic attacks where I would basically sometimes even black out. It's not nice but you're definitely not the only one. I went to my GP and they referred me to a 'therapist'...ie a counsellor. That helped a little. But I realised my panic attacks stopped happening when I got with my (now ex) boyfriend, because I felt safe and happy again. So what I think you should do is maybe see your GP and then sit and think about all the things that bother you. Write them down if it help. Then start slowly working on ways to improve them, I'm not saying a relationship will cure you, I'm saying for me thats what made me feel happy again- all you need to do is find yours!=) Good luck. Oh and as a ps. Docs often dont take anxiety seriously and will try and palm you off with beta blockers to calm you, which in my experience a) dont work, and b) and not good at all for you. Try something herbal like Bachs Rescue Remedy =)

i have suffered from anxiety attacks for years, having had a breakdown at the age of 29, one month after i had got married, i now have it under control although i still get them, i also get panic attacks too, its good that you are getting treatment, i was never offered this, so it took me a while to sort my self out, but i did eventually, try and keep active, read a book, do something to take your mind of what is troubling you, but most of all be positive, i used to think i was dying and now i control it rather than it controlling me, i dont think its something you are ever going to get rid of, but once you understand why it helps enormously!! i am now 53 and have lived with it a long time, but i will not let it beat me, stay strong and be positive, and i hope the treatment helps and you find a way too deal with it or even a cure! good luck!

exercise and other forms of stress release have been known to help as natural ways you can start on your own. on the other spectrum - there are medications used to take the edge off folks who suffer from anxiety but they tend to be addictive types of meds and should not be relied upon 100% or without therapy.

Try getting up in the morning and before you start your day ask yourselves a list of power questions created by you previously to help put focus in your life.

Also remember that people make mistakes. it is part of our learning process. THEY WILL HAPPEN so do not stress about it.

Anxiety is a problem we all share. It's everywhere we turn and we are challenged with decisions all day long, every day of the year. Even my days off are not 'off'! I don't know of ANY reliable methods of anxiety reduction, in my own case. Others may disagree.

If you can learn to release your thoughts and worries, noting that all the worry and forethought we expend energy on is in essence, wasted-- you will have it made. Good luck. If I knew a better way I wouldn't be taking three medications a day for this (for me) disabling illness.

Anxiety was fine when it fueled us to seek food, but now our lives are so complex that anxiety is redundant to our survival. Others may say I'm wrong, but I fail to see how most of my energy burned on worry, has any beneficial effect.

We are no longer animals in the 'beast' sense. We have evolved in some ways, but in others we are fully helpless.

I'm in the same situation as u, I get really bad panick attacks & all the methods I have had prepared to do when I e=get them fail as I freeze up i shock & am unable 2 do anything.

They say one of the best way to deal with anxiety is do DEEP BREATHING exercises every few hours. It does work but I forget to keep up. Basically take a deep breath (as deep as u can)hold ur breath, try to take more air, hold for a few seconds.....then exhale. Avoid caffeine at all costs.
Also, a very good doctor told me to take:

B-Vitamins
5-HTP
Calcium
Magnesium (very good) on an empty stomach in the mornings
PS> take calcium/magnesium separately

I've strated to take these & I notice some difference.

I hope u this helps, sorry this is all i know.But the breathing exercises really help. Don't forget!!

Oh I almost forgot, have u heard of using affirmations? it's really powerful, Louise L Hay is a world resected author on this subject (check out YOU Can Heal Your Body) & when I get panick attacks; the only thing that helps me (if i can manage it) is repeating: There's no need for panick attacks, I'm willing to release the need for panick attacks.

I don't know if u believe in crystals, but crystal therapy can be quite healing, the crystal receommened for anxiety is smoky quartz, citrine or lapis lazuli. You can get them in a crystal shop, Rock'n'Gem shows or on Ebay (the tumbled ones are quite cheap). Try to wear it all the time or carry it with u .also they need cleansing by placing in brown rice for 24 hours *exept Citrine.

I understand what it's like trying to deal with anxiety on a day to day basis. Excersise really does help. Also I noticed that my anxiety went away when I changed some aspects of my life that I felt trapped in. Me and my sister moved out of our apartment and I broke up with my boyfriend of 5 years. As it turns out those were two main sources of my anxiety. Try to figure out what yours are.

Google the linden method it heps you retrain you thoughts as anxiety is a behavour disorder and it really does work there is loads on the internet about it to read to help you make up your mind wether to purchase it or not,it also helps you disempower panick attacks the man who wrote it went threw 10 years of the worst with it so he knows what he is talking about.
