I went to the salon and asked that my hair be lightened to a light brown, only when she washed my hair out it was blonde, and I hated it. So i went to sally's and the lady in there recommended that I get a dark brown hair dye, so I dyed it, and now it looks green.

You do not need to strip it out like someone said. What you need to do to fix it is color over it with a brown that has red in it. Red cancels out green, the color you used had an ash base, never put ash on hair that has been lightened allot or bleached. The person at Sally's had no clue of what they were talking about, most the time they don't because they aren't a hair stylist anyways. you might want to wait a couple weeks if you can stand it and keep washing it so that it fades some before putting another color over it. You do need to use a color that has red in the base though. Washing your hair with dish soap does help it to fade like someone above mentioned. Make sure to use conditoner if you use the dish soap.Good luck

Having a color correction done at the beauty salon will cost over $100 or more!

First, wash your hair with dish soap...NOT the dishwasher kind, the hand wash kind. Do this twice. Condition your hair. Go buy a temporary color at Walmart, kmart, sally's...it's like a filler to fill in the cuticles of your hair. Do this twice in a month, then use a permanent coloring over that. (This was told to me once from the Clairol Help Number I called once when this happened to me).

Don't just ASH colors any more. Very few people can get away with it. You also need to tell your beautician that the color is unsatisfactory and she will redo it for nothing...maybe...give it a try.

Chances are that you probably got a hold of an ash toned hair color you need somthing with more of a warmer base to it (if your looking for a darker color stay at or below a level 6 at least)so it will counter act the green leave it on at least thirty min.. and the workers at sallys are not required to have a license in doing hair (cosometology) so they really don't know what the colors are supposed to do..

this is the thing about bleach
it goes down 6 layers of the hair.
normal dye only goes 3

if you want your hair brown this is what you must do.

dye it brown with a wash out dye

there is a clairol product that is wash out...26 or 28 washes....
it's naturals or something...

just go to the drug store, ask for wash out hair dye by clairol.

once your hair is dyed with that, you can dye it with permanent, I wouldn't waste money doing it right away because it does last a while and doesn't fade much.

I hope this helps!

Don't walk but RUN to your nearest salon. Green cannot be colored over, it will always look Kinda green. You need to have the color stripped out of your hair. You should have said something at the salon if you didn't like the color, they could have fixed it right there. It is THEIR fault if you told them light brown and you got blonde. Been there, done that...

Sorry it didn't work out for you...

You have learned Sally's is EVIL!

There is something called ColorZap if you want to lose color again. It has the best reputation.

You'll want to use some hair product with alot of Calosteral after you torture your hair like that,.. maybe have it sit in for half an hour,.. do that for days.

100% Color (I think it's by Garnier) and Clairol Essense Herbal are supposed to be the best at color because they work no matter what your hair is like.

Anything else people would recommend you go with Black. People are not aware Red is darker then Black.

Rules with coloring hair with normal hair colors is to try to go two shades stronger then the box looks for desired effect. So in your case with your Lightened hair if you wanted Brown you'd want something atleast two shades darker then what you wanted. But 100% Color and Essense Herbal are different,.. I hear they work no matter what to get color on box (and to use it longer then reccommended).

Your hair turned green because you used an ash-based color, which is for hair that easily turns brassy. obviously you didn't have brass in your hair, so it turned green. Go to Sally Beauty and buy a bottle of Protein Color Filler in Warm Brown. Use it like a shampoo on wet hair, leave it in for 20 minutes, and rinse it out. The warm tone will tone out the green.

did you do a home dye?

some will fade away and show the real colour.. did you wash it thoroughly?

i think it's a chemical reaction. go to the salon/shop you got the dark brown dye from, and ask them for the active ingredients. go to the first salon and ask if the second dye job has a chemical reaction or smth.

sympathies!! you need to go to a hair dresser soon! best of luck!

I've heard that dye removal product, but I wouldn't try it at home I would go to a salon to be on the safe side. It's better to be safe than sorry I've also heard that if you use a light color and then a dark color the greenish tint happens.

Get yourself to a reputable salon, and go for dark brown tint all over, once it starts to lighten it will blend in more and the green will vanish. NEVER TOUCH BLEACH AGAIN ! X
