I'm more interested in how many words are needed to use up on calorie since, by my husband's reckoning, I should be skinny as a rake as I never stop talking. If you could find out, please let us know

I recently heard that the average English native speaker uses 5000 different words in a day. I think it must vary with the language, because some languages have more words than others.

I have no guesses for the other questions! Lots!

I,m a bloke right and i think that women have the monopoly on talking forever about nothing, like the other day i asked my wife when it was she broke up from work and she went on about everything to do with Xmas ,cards, presents, trimmings, food, drink, when one simple answer would have done the problem is you see is that she keeps diverting on to other subjects.the other day we were in the car and i said i needed an hair cut and she said she fancied a Brazilian. Ill kill him if I see him. Sorry what was the question. O yes women 1000,000 men 100

American females: 20,000 American males: 10,000. It changes with different languages. As far the rest, I have no idea. The last one is answerable--in a way if you define what a word is.

This will give you some idea.

A husband read an article to his wife about how many words women use a day...
30,000 to a man's 15,000.
The wife replied, "The reason has to be because we have to repeat everything to men...
The husband then turned to his wife and asked, "What?"

In English a female will use about 20,000 whilst a male may get by on as little as 4,000.
Something to do with the way male and female brains work
