I've noticed that lately, my Emerson television had been making an odd noise. About five minutes after I turn it on, it emits this shrill noise and it will not go away unless I turn the tv off. The television was given to me by a friend so I don't have the book that originally came with it, so does anyone know what could be causing this?

Maybe one of the speakers is busted. Try muting the television and see if it goes away. If not the problem is internal, but if it goes away when muted you just need to buy a home theatre system and hook it up and avoid using the speakers on the television. Or you can have the speakers fixed at a repair shop, or if you know how you can do it yourself.

Its something internal in the tv which is repairable but will probally cost as much as the tv once sold for. I have the same thing happening to my tv minus the sound. The tv is on its last legs.
